(By the way Hal 9000, I find your signature offensive to all Atheists, Agnostics and probably also anyone not of the Christian faith.)

Just had to say so after seeing it pop up for a few posts now... sorry.

By that token, wouldn't your signature be offensive to all Christians?  The pendulum swings both ways, buddy.

(By the way, I myself am an atheist, I just don't see the point in being offended by people who disagree with you)

First of all, i'm glad SOMEONE's finally noticed and said anything about any of this (!)

I initially just wrote the message a couple weeks ago hoping Hal would realise that not everyone here is a Christian and that his first quote claiming that Atheism was nothing but hot-air could be insulting to some... unfortuately, neither he nor anyone else said a thing about this...

My new signature wasn't meant to offend, just to put things into perspective. I believe a person's religious beliefs (or lack thereof) should remain their own and probably don't belong on a website/topic about Star Wars Hi-Def Fan Edits and such (unless we're talking about the Jedi faith ;-)

But since this clearly isn't the case, why not express my own religious beliefs through my favorite theological quotes in much the same way Hal9000 had done before me. In these, the messages are the same but the roles are reversed. Why would that be more offensive?

(p.s. if anyone is truely offended by these, i will gladly remove them immediately)

I'm not saying it's "more offensive," just that it would be equally offensive to someone of the opposing viewpoint as you.

Moreover, being offended at someone expressing their beliefs is a ridiculous concept in itself.  I'm not saying either one of you should change your signatures, because you're each expressing your beliefs and opinions, but being offended by someone doing so is rather intolerant.  And, after all, isn't intolerance at least partly a product of religious fundamentalism?

Not to mention it's rather shitty and hypocritical to say you're offended by something, then retaliate by trying to offend that person the same way he apparently offended you.

Now we should probably stop derailing this thread (which I'll freely admit was my fault since I brought up your page-old post).

Adywan, will you ever release these as 16GB avis or something? Some people might want to use your excellent color correction as the basis for an edit without the compression.

I don't see anything fundamentally different between our two signatures. One points out my opinions about atheism, and the other points out your opinions about religion.

Mine is a simple statement about atheism. It is unfounded to say that it is inherently offensive to anyone who is not Christian. Yours, on the other hand, is a pointed joust at the Bible.

This is a non-issue. Let's focus on Star Wars.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Avp -  A neat cover there.  Some accompanying disc art would be good too.

I had a feeling (although I could well be wrong) that Ady's next release will be TPM...?

OK, well I can finally chime in on this project now that I have SEEN it properly. I watched it on my new 46" Samsung 650 series LCD with a PS3 and it is just phenomenal! Ady, I'm so glad that you're part of this community. We all owe you so much and it is difficult to really express how much respect I have for your efforts (... a lot...)

Anyway, keep up the great work. I can't wait for the AVCHD of Empire!

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

Adywan,

How did you get it to go 24.000p? Was the broadcast you used already like that or did you speed it up from 23.976?

By the way, until quite recently I was also under the impression that movies were always encoded on blu-ray at their original framerate since we now live in the age of hd, atsc, dvb et cetera and no longer have to worry about compatibility with the analog formats. After browsing avsforum, I noticed that whenever someone posted the disc info for a blu-ray it always said 23.976fps. I even joined just so I could post a question about this, and that's how I discovered that blu-rays are almost always made this way. I think this is because not all hdtv's can go at exactly 60i/24p, they can only do 59.94i/23.976p.

just to answer for adywan, if you read the very first post:

"As you can see they are all 24fps and not 23.976. Most new TV's are 24fps bluray compatible and as most blu-ray discs use the correct 24fps encoding i decided to use that so you get the movie as it was in the cinemas."
