Hi G-Force wonderful topic here. One thing that has always made me very angry was the transfer GL provided us with for the originals on GOUT dvd. I'm so glad that there is something we can finally do about it to make the best of what we have.

Can I ask how I can do this image stablization, like maybe step by step? I've been reading this thread but not much of it is making any sense to me. Excuse me for the newbie intellect when it comes to this kind of thing. :-)

OSJ, that was very helpful! Turns out that the PAL version has no built in overscan (the NTSC version has black on both sides of the fame, PAL doesn't) and MVDegrain likes black borders. Check out the new script and let me know how it works.

I got the DVD ripped to my HDD, I made myself an avisynth script (using G-Force's script), I put the VOB's along with the script through DGIndex and saved it as a d2v file. I then used CCE encoder to encode it all but I got a buffer overflow error and it failed on me. Is there another encoder I can use for the d2v file?

Try HCEnc 0.23. Its freeware.

I have the same problem with CCE too, with HCEnc or TMPGEnc I have no problems.

Have you the fft3dfilter installed in your system32 folder?

You can get it here. Make sure, that you install this filter into your "system32" folder, this is a subfolder of your "Windows" folder.

You should also try HCEnc from here. I have the same problem with CCE too, but not with HCEnc.

I will be doing an NTSC verison.

Alright dark_jedi, I think it is safe to say this version (3.09) is stable. I can't promise there won't be improvements down the road at some point, but this is the version I'm going to burn.

Great to hear,but all these changes you are making for the PAL version,they won't interfere with the NTSC will they?

because that is an awful lot of encoding time involved here LOL.

Well,it needs to be encoded again if you are making it anamorphic.

You need to browse for the VTS 3 of the GOUT with DGIndex. Then klick "save project" as "ANH.d2v" or DVD.d2v" or whatever you want. Just make sure, you save it as ".d2v"-file.

Then open g-forces script in the editor and here

you specify the directory, where your "ANH.d2v" (or however you titled it) is stored on your HDD.

and change in the line

PAL = false       # <-----Set to false for NTSC, true for PAL

the "false" into true if you want to do a PAL DVD or leave it as it is if you want to do a NTSC DVD.

Save this script as .avs-file somewhere on your HDD, for example as ANH-script.avs.

Then open HCEnc-GUI. Klick the "input" button and browse for the .avs-file you have just created.

Then specify the output-directory with the "output" button for the .m2v-file and the log-file and give both a output-name, for example ANH_new.m2v and ANH_new.log.

Then hit the "encode" button and wait until the encoding is finished. You can specify the beginning and the end of the encoding on the "preview" tab of HCEnc. You should choose a small scene to try the encoding for the first time and play around with the HCEnc-settings. You better choose "progessive" on the "settings 1" tab. Then everything should work.

The encoding is slow, but it is really worth it.

OSJ I would be interested in the NTSC,what other cool mixes are there that can be used for this DVD?

I have a mono-PAL-version from you, it is 79,7 MB big, and I have also a mono-NTSC-Version from you, it is 83,1 MB big.

They both are a AC3-files. What do you think, would the NTSC-file match with the encoded (NTSC) GOUT? What is the restored version for the NTSC GOUT, are these the files?

How can speed the NTSC-version up, if this is the right one?

Okay it's all working good now - well seems to be. It's encoding that's the main thing!!! Only, it says it's going to take 33 days... :/

My pc is pretty fast, it isn't quadcore but it certainly isn't slow. It's a Core 2 Duo E6400 overclocked at 3Ghz, 4GB ram, 250gb seagate barracuda hdd, running windows vista 64bit ultimate edition. God only knows why it's encoding so slow. Might have to try another encoder.

It wouldn't be he encoder. Try adding "trim(4500,4500)" to the end of the script, resave the script, and drop the icon for the script file into an open Media Player window. That will give you an idea if the script is functioning.
