2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:3 pulldown?

Anyone know something about this method of getting 24fps on pal equipment? Specifically if there are any drawbacks to this method?

Is this what Arnie.d did with the Star Wars SE?

Don't know much about this method, suffice to say that it's better with "soft" pulldown flags rather than video "hard" telecined into a 25fps. But I expect you knew that anyway.

Yes, similar, except he seems to have used 23.976->25, but that's practically the the same of course.

Yeah, I know soft pulldown is preferable.

Just wondering why we're not seeing this type of pulldown more with for example fan preservations... Maybe it's just not very well known or there could be other issues.. 

(Btw, the issues mentioned in that thread with the blended fields - it's my understanding this usually stems from poorly converted ntsc material -> pal (bad ivtc).)

Hmm, I can't make it work anyway...
If I have a 24fps progressive clip and use dgpulldown with a custom setting of 24 -> 25, it simply changes the framerate to 25fps. Would have liked to have tested it though - but oh well...
