Info: ROTJ forced subtitles

Here is what I think are just the forced subtitles for ROTJ. Does anyone know differently? Also, should it be “50,000” or “fifty thousand” or “fifty-thousand”?

time indexes are for the SE, but I have left off the “do that again” line because I hope to translate these to the GOUT eventually.

IIRC, this line should not be subtitled at all - it is translated verbally by C3PO.

I'm pretty sure that's an original translated subtitle line, and that 3PO follows it up with ""50,000. No less." What did I say?"

I guess it's two to one then! The original script has that as a subtitle, and the GOUT does a forced subtitle on that line. That brings into question if any of the forced subtitles are correct. How can I find out what the theatrical subtitles were?

D'oh! You're right. Don't know what I was thinking.

On my LD transfer the line is:
"I want fifty thousand. No less."

whew! Thanks Moth3r! any chance you would be willing to verify the rest of the lines?

Just to confuse the issue, read THIS POST. That Leia/Boushh line is not subtitled! I don't know what version those subs are based on.

The subtitles I used on my LD transfer were based on the 1995 VHS versions, and the Boushh line is shown. I'll have another look at the DVD and verify the rest of the lines.

For a theatrical reference, we need to find someone with a recording of Jedi off ITV in the eighties. See THIS THREAD.

Man, now I'm really confused. I could have honestly been mistaken (it's been a while), but I don't think it makes sense for 3PO to read the subtitles for us, even if it was that way originally.

Agree with all of these, the only difference in my version are the ellipses at the beginning of the continuation lines, i.e.:
"...fearless and inventive."
"...but now you're Bantha fodder."

Are you trying to re-create them as per a specific video release or as per the theatrical print? Reason being is that I remember seeing Jedi in the theater and those two long lines that had to be cut in half on video were one single line in the theater.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I guess the video release is what I'm after, as I don't really want them over the film anyway.

Well, what I meant was that in the theater on a giant screen, they could run the whole line at once. On video, at least before HD, they couldn't fit it all in one line and still be a readable point size.

No worries :) I knew what you meant, and I agree.
