"Last Post" Problem?

Author
Time
On the main page, it seems like there is some inconsistancy with the "Last Post" information at times. When I moved the "Uploading Author Icon" thread into this forum, it listed the last post in that thread as the last post for the forum, even though it shouldn't be chronologically.

Also, it seems like if a post is deleted, it is still reported as the last post.

Lastly, some forums are reporting the initial post in the board-wide announcement as the last post even though there are newer posts in other threads.

For the first issue, I'm automatically assigning the moved post as the last post in the forum even though it's not the newest post by date. Thanks for catching that. Will fix.

Post delete should be removing that post as the last post. Not sure why it's broken. I'll investigate.

The last issue was caused by me repeatedly editing that topic to be an announcement forum-wide because other issues were causing it to be stripped of its announcement status. Any time you post an announcement or reply to it, that post is listed as the newest post in that forum. That should go away now that I fixed the issues causing the announcement to break in the first place.

The last post report still seems to be hit-and-miss.

For example, the last post in the Theatrical Cuts vs. Special Editions forum is shown as 12 Mar 2008 at 5:51 AM by adywan (my time zone settings, obviously).

The last post is actually 11 Mar 2008, 9:44 PM by Sluggo.

Adywan did post in the announcement thread at that time - but there are more recent posts after that.

I just encountered a thread in which the title bar said it had 4 pages, but when I clicked on the "4", it took me to the first page, where it showed only 3 pages. (the particular thread was the one discussing 70mm source info under "theatrical vs special editions").

On this particular topic, it's reporting a total of 3 posts even though there are 4.

Obviously I still have some bugs to work out :)

Edit: My reply seems to have fixed it. This is really odd. I'll look into it.

Should be fixed now. I was mistakenly caching topic posts during the user login session, so if a topic were updated within that timeframe (15 minutes), you wouldn't see it until your login session refreshed.

Bug testing is so much easier when you have a small army of testers. I really appreciate your patience guys. Thanks a lot.

Tiptup just posted a reply in the new forum software announcement, and now every forum is reporting this as the last post.

The last post in an announcement becomes the last post in every forum in which it's posted.

I use Firefox at home, but corporate policy doesn't let me have the rights to install it on my work PC.

Back on topic: I see it's not a bug now, but I think future announcements that are placed in multiple forums should be locked to prevent replies - especially since your request "please don't flood this topic with issues and requests" is being ignored ;)
