hi all!

finally i have paid for a account with giganews... i'm downloading at the top of my conection, and in an hour i'll have all the files.

but i'm afraid 'cos i see there are some incomplete parts: 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 83, 84 and 85... i still can't see the par files to repair this. are there not uploaded yet?

what can i do with the incomplete parts?

please excuse me, i'm a totally newbee in newsgroups and my english is very bad

Hi all, I've been lurking around here since the early 100 pages (it all seems so long ago ) and am really looking forward to both the dvd-5 and dvd-9 of Adywan's masterpiece.

I was prompted to sign up and post for Covenant's benefit (possibly). I too am on Virgin's free news server and have had no problems d/l'ing any of the parts that are complete. However, I was recently notified that Virgin had changed their servers from the old news.cable.ntlworld.com one to news.virginmedia.com. If you aren't already on it, might I suggest a change and re-scan. You might be able to get most of your missing parts then.

I am up to about 76 at last count. Not long now.

Hello everyone,

For all you canadian users out there, I am downloading off of the shawnews (both vancouver) servers. All 86 (87 with NFO file) parts are currently up and I am downloading.

Broken parts for me are:

11,12,15,16,18,21,24,27-34,38. Most are only missing 1 line, 210/211.

Once I get the full file I will seed a torrent.

Hi Sterntrooper,

I'm glad you did sign up, as lately I've been d/l what I can from Virgin then getting the rest of the incompletes/etc via Astraweb - using some resources I'd rather keep for groups which are not on VM's server list.

This explains a lot - I just thought they were having some kind of issues (which wouldn't have surprised me either).

isn't that ALOT of missing blocks\broken parts,are you sure these will still be good to go?

You're right! 79 out of 86 RARs appear to be complete using that server. Thanks for the info!

(Managed to repair with the extra PAR files)

So you're posting the PAR files now? How long do you estimate that will take?


I've got some errands to run. I am just wondering how quickly people will be able to assemble their copies so they can start putting those up in torrent form...

I have a nzb file for the NTSC DVD5 if anyone wants it....doesn't include all the pars (I think Ady's got one more par to upload) but enough to repair the archive....

Sorry to be such a bother...but is the entire 34rar file missing for NTSC on abstarwars?

Can someone verify that? I was under the impression that the PAR files will fix parts of the rars that are corrupt, but will they replace a whole rar that is missing?

No. The 34 rar file is there, however it is one of the incompletes.

Just added the server and re-scanned... now only 85 parts missing from the entire post. And I'm sure the pars will cover them!

Ady, I just wanted to say thanks for posting the NTSC DVD. You've done an amazing job with the menus, and the video looks superb. The new flipper/hand scene looks much better than the xvid, a big improvement. Looks very natural. The hand is way more effective, imo. Also, the tweaking to the Tie Fighter reveal is spectacular. I can't wait to watch it now with the text commentary.

By the way, I'm sure many of you here have seen WookieGroomer's split screen treatment of the original trilogy. I think it would be awesome to see Adywan's version split screen with the official special edition. I wonder if he would be interested in doing this?

i've downloaded the entire 'real proper pal' version, but i can't unrar... there's a lot of missing parts and quickpar can't repair

seriously, I am fine being patient and waiting for it. the above is merely a question of if (meaning location), not an impatient demand (of when).
