Agreed. The Alvin-based covers that Metallaxis did for my LD rips are still my favourite designs.

That's really sad. Even though I liked Struzan's work on Star Wars better than Alvin's, he did a great job on many, many other projects, like E.T., Hook and a lot of the 'serious' posters for Disney. John, RIP.
I want to learn the ways of the Force and become a Jedi like my father.

OK, I will upload the G4 cover tomorrow for you Also, I just downloaded the SW Hype cover, and it worked fine. There are actually two covers in the rar archive

...and I didn't do an extended edit of Alien, however I did create a cover for someone who did.

The custom cover community online uses 3240x2175 pixels for the dimensions at 300dpi in JPEG format. That's for a standard single-width amaray case. There are other standard sizes for the multi-disc, fatter cases, but there you go.

Is there any preference for the compression/quality setting when saving to JPG format? (Or, to put it another way, what's a typical size of a DVD cover JPG file?)

I would suggest maximum quality/lowest compression settings if using JPG. However, I prefer it when the full quality lossless TIFF's are made available. Depending on the artwork, A TIFF might be 25-30 MB at 3240x2175, 300dpi...

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

To mirror movealong's thoughts, when using jpg, keep the maximum quality, least compression. File size depends on color complexity really. Can be anywhere from 1.5 - 8 MB really. 3 or 4MB is more common.

Well, you can't really draw blood from a stone. The best you're going to get before ratio correction is 720x480/576 (NTSC/PAL, respectively).
