Guys, we're all going to hell, apparently.

Did you watch the video? I think his issue is with people who really think The Force is real. This is mostly evident in the UK where they had a group of people claim "Jedi" as their religion. If you view Star Wars as a work of fiction, like most sane people do, the guy doesn't think you're going to hell at all. He even said when asked about saving Darth Vader "Darth Vader isn't real sir". And that was just within the first minute or so (sorry, I'm not going to waste 3.5 mins watching some people make fun of this guy, he's certainly entitled to his opinion).

I loved this comment by the camerman in response to "They're gonna go to hell" "Or George Lucas Land". In my mind, George Lucas Land might in fact be hell.

And it figures they say "according to Christians" in the title. As if Christianity was this big, robotic mass of people who all have the same (radical) ideals. And people have the nerve to say we're the only religion not persecuted. People mock us and our so-called "backward ways" publicly and they call it freedom of speech. We criticize other mainstream groups and people call us intolerant. Sorry to go off on that little rant, but it really sickens me.

I didn't say it was officially recognized. What I said is true though. The UK census has an option for religion. Above a certain number of any type, and it goes from "Other" to being an actual option on the census. So among, as examples, "Christian","Muslim", and "Buddhist" there's now "Jedi" (assuming enough people put that). Of course that doesn't mean it's an officially recognized religion, it just means that it's now listed as one of the religions because a bunch of people put that down.

Personally, I put down "Jedi Knight" as my occupation on my IRS forms for a few years. It wasn't because I believed I was a Jedi Knight though. It was just because I could and I didn't care.

OH MY GOD!

Is that guy with the sign a clone of Steven Spielberg?

I think the problem is that when he was a kid his mom and dad would not let him have cool Star Wars Action Figures, but in fact made him play with bible toys.

D'oh. I was afraid it might come to this someday. When the Christian HQ announced that Christians were not allowed to read Harry Potter, I abliged and even sent letter of protest to local bookstores and hate mail to J. K. Rowling. I did the same when His Dark Materials made their way to the US. Later, when a movie version of the first book of the Chronicles of Narnia was announced and stirred up the waters, the old series of books suddenly became visible to the Christian Head Quarters and were deemed as demonic, so I shunned them as well, again sending letters of protest to any books store in my area evil enough to carry these Satanic kids books. When I was about to send my hate mail to Mr. Clive Stamples Lewis, I discovered that he has been dead for sometime, so I was forced to send my hate mail to one of his step son's, cursing him for the sins of his step father. I had to take similar action with the author of the horribly anti-Christian Lord of the Rings books, since as it turns out, he too has been dead for some time (seems we Christians don't start hating things until they get a film adaption based off of them).

I had hoped it would never come to this, but now that Christians have decided Star Wars is evil, I am afraid I will have to burn all my DVDs and collectables, and never visit this forum again. The years I have spent here have been fun. I will miss you all greatly (yes, even Seanwookie), but my religion is most important to me and if the International Head Quarters of All Christians Everywhere have decided that Star Wars is evil, then I must follow their lead.

Excuse me as I must go now and write hate mail to Mr. Lucas, and make preparations to boycott every store that sells licensed Star Wars products. This will be my last and final post. See you all in hell.

with love,
C3PX

That's the first thing I thought.

Anyway, I thought this video was a giant Rick Roll?

There were people like this at the midnight showing of EP1. Handing out flyers and such. It all turned out to be a big spoof. I kind of thought it was funny so I kept one of the flyers. I tried to find it for this thread but no such luck.

Who thinks the Force is real? I think this guy's basic premise is non-existant.

There is such a thing as "Jediism", a genuine faith, but its just New Age spirtualism with a pop title and not an actual devotion to the in-universe Force. You would think that the billions of Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists in the world would be a more pressing concern if your goal is to draw followers back into the one true religion of Christianity.

I was one of the people who put Jedi as my religion, but it was a joke because I am essentially of no religion. That doesn't mean I don't believe in spirituality I just don't subscribe to any one religion and didn't give a shit about the government census so I wrote Jedi. Having said that, the force, as explained in the OT not the shitty PT, is actually based on Buddhism and so I guess you could say that I do believe in it to an extent.

War does not make one great.

If The Force = Buddhism in the OT does that mean it's Scientology in the PT? Seriously ... Midichlorians are Body Thetans.

The Force, as explained and shown in the OT, is based on many things, Buddhism being one. Just looking at the redemption part of ROTJ adds a bit of Christianity as well. I'm sure there's some Hinduism and other religions mixed in there too.

The Force from the OT was many many religions all rolled into one.
