Thanks, i had already tried this but the problem remained. It actually caused a few of my programs to start behaving strangely too. Oh well. Once the DVDs are done the PC definitely is in need of a clean install.

Wait so what is Ady's computer problem actually stopping him from doing... the initial (post-fixes) PAL DVD-5 encoding?

It's stopping me doing every video file needed for the DVD. Not only do i have to encode 4 separate MPEG 2 files for the main movie ( DVD-5 & 9 Pal & NTSC versions) but there is also all the rendering for the menus and extras. Luckily half of the menus (Pal version) were finished and encoded prior to the problem arising and the DVD Authoring program will allow the avi files to be used so i can continue work on the DVD until they can be replaced with the MPEG files.

Ady, sorry to hear of the PC trouble; I hope it all resolves as quickly and easily as possible. I'd be glad to make a contribution if that would help. Do you do PayPal?

yes i have a paypal account. it is:
adywan (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk (obviously replacing the "at" & "dot" for @ & .)
As it looks like i will have to go down the clean install on a separate drive route, this will help greatly towards getting the drive as quick as possible (although i really do hate having to ask for contributions) . The good this is that only having to get a new hard drive is a godsend and that it won't be wasted on just getting this DVD done. When i come to ESB i'm going to need all the space possible for that edit because i will be using all HD footage which is going to eat up hard drive space.

How much HD space are you looking at for the ESB edit? If I remember correctly, you quoted 2 terrabites for Starwars Revisited. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The first taste (Xvid) is free.

No really, adywan, I sympathize. I went through a HDD fiasco a few months back. I thought I had 2 drives fail.
I was terrified for some projects I was working on (not to mention everything else).

yeh, Revisited almost filled 2 terrabites of space up so it's going to take more for ESB because this time i will be working with a 1080p source

It should work now Ady, please check. I encourage anyone who has enjoyed SW REVISITED and looks forward to ESB REVISITED to donate if they haven't already, even a small amount (as I did) is a big help if a few people do it.

You might want to edit that post and obfuscate Ady's address (like he did in his own post). Don't want the spambots coming after the poor guy.

I fixed it, I wondered why he posted it that weird way, and now I know why! Although that's not even his, it's her's as the poster below me elaborated.

It wasn't adywan's address, it was Abigail Dywan's. And her name sounds like she's a gal not a guy...

Yes that too, I am not sure she has a valid paypal account, but paypal knew that email address was hers, so who knows.

So which parts of SW Revisited didn't use the 1080p source?

Ady,

Sorry to hear about your latest round of computer problems.

So, what's your plan to protect youself against Neil S Bulk's next attempt to sabotage your computer. (sorry, couldn't resist )

I have faith that you'll find a way to make this happen.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

About 70% didn't. It wasn't available when i started the project and too much work had been done when it did come online.

Okay, so which parts did use the higher quality sources?

Ady, sent a little PayPal your way. Wish I could do something about the lousy U.S.A. exchange rate, though.

This one is for adywan and all others that helped him getting SW ep4 revisited done:

As a huge Star Wars fan since I was a kid I would like to thank you for your patience, sirious dedication and time you invested in this incredible piece of work you made. It's really incredible what one alone (with a little help from outside) can do at home without giant studio with lots of specialists behind him. Well, this shows that really talented people are also talented for many things.... and if they work hard too, this is a result we all can enjoy.
For me and probably for a lot of other SW-fans this was not a 2 - year awaited project because I discovered it first as it was placed to fanedit.org, so it was a BIG surprise... so I want to thank all of your supporters and owners of great ideas which made it into this cut.
Dispite the fact I know this movie by heart, now it makes me so happy watching and hearing it in this quality for the first time. The subtility of your approach is incredible, the results are beyond imagination, this time not a "horror" (like a fake ep 6 title during Redwoods Filming) :-) , but a greatest pleasure beyond imagination!

I would like to wish you a soon recovery of your computer-caused problems with ep 4 and a succesful continuation of this revisited project with the ESB and ROTJ as well. For that you may also need to stay healthy, so I sincerely hope that you are not going to sit all day in front of your computer only (dispite of unpatiened state of long-awaiting fans).

I would also like to make a small donation trough PAYPAL in order to support getting additional hardware to help making the rest of this project going as smooth as possible. Please send me details trough PM where should I send it.

Also I'll stay close to this forum for ESB and ROTJ. Being an active professional musician (violinist) and knowing the ESB and ROTJ scores by heart, maybe I could help with any kind of solving some problems. I also made my own ep1 - filmedit with a lot of work behind recutting so it's a nice melancholic movie now. I am looking forward to hopefully put it on Fanedit.org although there are already lots of other versions there.

So, a big THANK YOU to you and your helpers too.
wise you must be.

Thanks to everyone that has donated so far. i'm just over the half way mark for the drive now.

As far as the DVD is concerned, the structure is now 90% complete. There should be enough space on the DVD-5 to include some extra features which would mainly be the trailers . As soon as i can start rendering the mpeg files then i can easily replace the temp avi files and find out just how much can be squeezed onto it. The whole process should only take about a day or so to complete. so after i have the new drive and the software reinstalled you can expect the PAL DVD_5 to appear a couple of days after that.

One thing that i forgot to mention is that both DVD-5 & DVD-9 versions will feature a sneak peak trailer for....
"The Empire Strikes Back - Revisited" which will feature a couple of concepts that i have already begun work on, including a first look at the new Emperor hologram.
