Thanks, i had already tried this but the problem remained. It actually caused a few of my programs to start behaving strangely too. Oh well. Once the DVDs are done the PC definitely is in need of a clean install.

It's stopping me doing every video file needed for the DVD. Not only do i have to encode 4 separate MPEG 2 files for the main movie ( DVD-5 & 9 Pal & NTSC versions) but there is also all the rendering for the menus and extras. Luckily half of the menus (Pal version) were finished and encoded prior to the problem arising and the DVD Authoring program will allow the avi files to be used so i can continue work on the DVD until they can be replaced with the MPEG files.
