Unfortunately I know nothing about how to work torrents and wanted to know what other alternatives there is to view his work. Like maybe a free download site where it's uploaded? Like I said, I'm very incompetent when it comes to these things, so the simpler the better

Thanks in advance

It's also available on Rapidshare and Usenet...

But what's difficult about torrents???? Download Utorrent and you're up and running in 5 minutes!

b. to further reassure folks that this is my doing - not borrowed

Dude, this is a FANTASTIC dvd cover man! However did you manage to do it? Did you use Adobe Photoshop to do it or something else? Also how did you get the front and back cover background pictures? Cos i've trawled the internet and cannot find a picture large enough and with enough resolution to use as a dvd cover. Any info would be great man as i have ideas for the cover too.

Okay so I cant help myself, here are some ideas for Adywan's treatment of Episode V, The Empire Strikes back

1. Removal of entire Vader shuttle sequence, it ruins the timing of this sequence.
2. Reinstatment of original "Bring my shuttle" line.
3. Molten metal edges to lightsabers going through metal during Luke/Vader fight
4. On-screen de-ignition of Vader's Saber after end of fight.
5. Enhancment of de-ignition sound of Vader's saber at end of fight.
6. On-screen de-ignition of Luke's Saber when he follows Vader off of the Carbon Freezing platform.
7. Fixing Stromtrooper's fallen Shoulder pad in Han being carbon froze sequence
8. Removal of Han's bicep cuffs as they are not in Return of the Jedi
9. Clouds needed in shot of Lando and Luke re-entering Falcon from under Cloud City
10. SE shot of Falcon approaching platform 327 looks "wrong" somehow. The Falcon looks flat or something, I cant explain, the shot just bugs me. I dont want this removed as I love all the new Bespin exteriors but the Falcon needs fixed.
11. fixing Saber colors, Thier widths are fine but Vader's seems to be almost pink in some shots in the SE DVDs.
12. Fix timing of sound, perhaps adding on-screen de-ignition of Saber as Luke exits Wampa cave.
13. It would be nice if the AT-AT could squash the Snow speeder a little flatter, don't know how feasible that is.
14. More life-like Taun-Tauns ala Cantina alien edits
15. Reinstatment of "You're lucky you dont taste very good." instead of keeping different "You were luck to get out of there" line
16. Reinstatment of original announcement of "The first transport is away."
17. Reinstatment of original sound effect when Lando releases the Mic that lets him address cloud city and inform the people that the Empire has taken over. It's a small thing but I preferred the original.

Possible additions, wishful thinking.

1. More At-ATs Snow speeders in background of battle. Perhaps another snowspeeder can do the leg thing after Luke's success in the background? Perhaps add some probe droids, speder bikes and AT-STs. Strafing runs of retreating rebels at end of battleby tie-fighters isn't out of the realm of possibility.
2. More tiefighters in asteroid chase? Plenty of rocks for them to run into.
3. Perhaps the Falcon could fire at these ties. Those turrets can be controlled from the cockpit, just not as well as having someone actually in the turret. Besides we don't see the Falcon fire those things at all in Empire.
4. Maybe a couple more ships protecting the transports departure? Maybe some ties could race out to great them and be destroyed in a brief exchange of fire as the transport gets past the Star Destroyer?
5. All new shots in the Asteroid chase? Dont know how hard rocks are to do in 3d software. However Id want the musical cues in this scene retained which means you'd have to delete stuff to insert new...nevermind.
6. Perhaps a MUCH LARGER fleet could arrive at Hoth and have the planet surrounded, this would explain why the transports go straight at a Star Destroyer instead of taking another direction.
7. Do something to address the fact that Luke gets off the planet without seeing a single Imperial ship, let alone engaging one.

Well thers my initial thoughts, Now I think Ill do one for Jedi

Please Help:

OK I'll admit it. I've been ghosting this thread for a while, I should have spoke up sooner but.

I've finnally downloaded the edit but I'm having some trouble.
Would somebody be so kind (I'm not sure if this was covered earlier in detail)
to walk me through being able to watch it.

I have a few issues and questions:
I have DIVX downloaded and what I think is the latest codec, however, I get a directshow warning and hear no sound if I play it in DIVX or MediaPlayer.
2nd issue:
How exactly/best way/what format do I need to burn the file to a DVD-R in order to watch it in a DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player (I have all three)

Thanks to all and especially to ADY, I'm usually not a fan of fan edits but I believe what you have done is exceptional (and I haven't even watched it yet)

You need the latest xvid codec, and to convert to DVD,the simplest way is to use the NEW ConvertXtoDVD v3,but it costs $,if you want a free DVD converter, you could try DVD Flick,it will not do as good of a job as the other but like I said it is free, and it converts alot of different files like ConvertXtoDVD does.

THANKS DARK,

I was just about to reply back and say that I found and installed the AC3 codec, so I got sound...UM WOW!
I'll try the dvdflick----THANKS

ADY having just watched a few moments of the film, I am completely impressed. Huge congrats and thank you for your dedication.
As I said in my previous post I'm not usually a fan of fan edits, I know this won't win me a lot of fans but I'm a GL supporter and can usually understand his decisions and motivations, but what you have done is incredible. I can't wait to sit down and watch the whole thing

ADY, the Force is definatly with you

But what's difficult about torrents???? Download Utorrent and you're up and running in 5 minutes!

Thank you. I didn't know that Utorrent was needed (I'm a real newbie at all this). But I downloaded it and then downloaded the torrent. Now it's doing something called seeding, which seems to take forever. I don't really know what that is, though.

Edit: it is now running, but I too am having trouble with the sound. What site would you recommend to download this AC3 codec? I'm watching it on Windows Media Player, btw. Thanks in advance / Chrille

Seeding is simply you're computer making the file available to others. You downloaded your torrent file from other people who were seeding, and as long as people are seeding the file is still available.

As for why its taking so long, technically it goes on indefinitely, as you can always share you're file. If however you feel its taking up too much bandwidth you can always stop seeding, or adjust how much bandwidth you're willing to let the program use. If you adjust it, then you can keep seeding (more seeds = better download speeds for others) and still be able to use the internet or other programs without taking much of a performance hit.

You should always try to seed at least 1:1, so you are giving back as much as you are taking. It can be a pain, but if everybody just stops seeding once they have it, nobody will be getting it. It's all very socialist.

Well i've just this second finished the last tweak to the video and i am rendering the MPEG2 right now. I have a few more things to do for the menus and the DVD-5 PAL will be ready to go. Then it will only take a day or two to finish the NTSC DVD-5. The DVD-9 versions will be a few weeks at least away though because there is a lot more to do for those.

Adywan, I realize that this is last minute and that you probably have already finished these aspects to the dvds, so I hope you will forgive me anyway. I didn't find this thread until your release was already finished so I couldn't contribute earlier.

I have minor suggestion that certianly isn't nesseccary but would be nice. I've always disliked that Vader talks to and takes smack from these very junior officers at the start of the film. If you could alter their rank badges to "promote" them to colonels or navy captains that would be great. Also, preferably Motti and Tagge should have Moff insignias since that would explain why they have a political say and seem much more powerful than the admirals and generals in the other movies. I think this site helps with how the badges work:

http://theforce.net/swtc/insignia/badges.html

I also wanted to say that I am really impressed by the amount of work you have put into this. Don't let anyone push you down and be proud of what you've accomplished. I will give a more thurough review once I've resolved some audio issues and wathed the entire movie.

Does anyone know where I can find AC3 codec for a free download btw? I'm googling it, but am a bit uncertain of the sites I've found so far.

Good to see that your torrenting! Seeding is the process where you provide the data to download for others, it's fair to seed 100% also!

Hi, Adywan. I'm new to the forum, and I just had to get my word in to compliment you on an astounding job. I'm amazed at all the work you must have put into this, and the fact that this edit blows away the official special edition versions put out by Lucasfilm proves what a labor of love this has been for you. This is indeed the official special edition, as far as I'm concerned, and I look forward to seeing it made available on DVD. You deserve a break after this is finished, but I'm already looking forward to seeing what else you have in store for the rest of the original trilogy. Thanks again for sharing this with us; it is certainly a gift.

Ahem...

Last night I had a completely visceral experience. I sat back and enjoyed the hell out of ANH: Revisited.
Usually I hate fan edits. I look at the list of changes that have been made and it turns my stomach. Having worked a little bit in the film industry, along with all of my other pursuits, seeing plot, characters, and creative decisions taken out of the hands of the original creators by "Fans" to meet their own self-involved demands just gets on my nerves. Don't get me wrong, some films defiantly deserve to be re-edited and some fan-edits are very interesting and well done. It can be fascinating to see a unique vision and interpretation of a film as long as the vision of the film makers is respected. There are many films, however, do not need to be messed with at all. Up until last night I believed Star Wars: A New Hope was one of them.

What Ady has done is something special and completely different. I applaud him.

I love the original version of ANH and I love the SE and really didn't see any need for changes. I am a Lucas devotee and call me whipped and an idiot but I've never had any issues with his decisions ADY!!! You took two versions of a film that I have zero problems with and actually made improvements. Unlike some Star Wars films fan edits, you did not change plot, characters, flow, or effect the original vision in anyway and that what I found most endearing, and what I absolutely respect and admire.
The changes you made are cosmetic ones and make EPIV's link with the rest of the series all the greater. Your choices, in the added shots (FX and other wise), camera angles, and pacing is completely in tune with the rest of the films and look as if they were done by Lucasfilm themselves. I was floored. The addition of the holograms and other displays was inspired and the addition of more Imperial ships and a larger scope truly make the Empire appear as "large and in charge" as they appear in the other five films. An even small thing like the Star Destroyer going to Hyperspace was just genius. Speaking of Hyperspace, the Falcon in Hyperspace enroute to Yavin, F'ING brilliant!!! I have not been this excited about the Battle of Yavin since I first can remember seeing it some 30 odd years ago. My kids and I had to watch the shot of the TIEs entering the battle several times in a row. And I'm planning to throw in the DVD again this evening just to watch the battle again.
I can always sit down and watch any of the Star Wars films and love every minute but it's been a while since I was truly interested in what was coming next, it was like watching a new film.

After picking up my jaw from the floor I stand in complete awe, sir. Thank you for your dedication, thoughtfulness, and hard work. I know there were many set backs and problems but I'm so happy you didn't give up. I was proud to place your version of ANH on the shelf I have reserved only for Star Wars DVD's and box sets and in the future any time I watch the whole saga or am in the mood to watch EPIV, yours will be the version I reach for. Please note that is something I NEVER thought I'd hear myself say about any fan version, much less one that did not come directly from the Maker. I now wait, like many people on this board, in eager anticipation for Eps V and VI. Hopefully with your new found skills and larger hard drives we will not be waiting for long. Just as long as you keep with the spirit of the films and respect the overall vision of the original film makers you will always have my admiration and support.

If it wasn't for the space battle, this might replace the SE for me. But the elegance of the Yavin battle has turned into a choatic jumble without any visual flow. For me, this will likely prevent this version from ever replacing any previous one. Having said that, this is the funnest time I've had watching ANH in a long while, if only to see a high-res version of the film with the proper coloring and without the SE stupidity, and some of the changes are marvellous. I did love the change in Bigg's death though--the effectiveness of this cannot be overstated. Seems like such a natural thing that its a wonder Lucas didn't hit upon this himself--maybe if he had a little more time to edit in 77 he would have.

Congratulations Adywan, you have a remarkable creation here. I'm still trying to figure out how you did all the stuff you did, and often I would become aware of something being different in a shot but it was so subtle that I couldn't even realise it. I don't agree with every change--not by a long shot--but seeing as you did this for yourself, thats not your problem. I think this simply underlines what should have been the original point of the SE back in 1997: its just a fun enhancement on the original, a fun modern update, but you wouldn't want it to replace the original.
