I have a particular one in mind:

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i82/thegreathunger/spideythwip.jpg

I’m thinking about doing a transfer of the old 70’s Spider-Man TV movie starring Nicholas Hammond. I thought this movie was great as a kid, and upon recently obtaining a VHS, I can say it’s much more fun for laughs than anything else. I know there are copies on Laserdisc, and also two sequels: Spider-Man Strikes Back (AKA The Deadly Dust) and Spider-Man The Dragon’s Challenge (AKA The Chinese Connection). These were originally episodes of the CBS TV show, recut to be feature-length films which were released theatrically in Europe.

Does anyone have copies of any of these? I’d even be interested to see the TV show, though I don’t have the time to transfer that one myself.

I’m also interested in the made-for-TV Nick Fury and Generation X.

Are you kidding me DO THIS PROJECT, PLEASE!!!

They were released in Europe theatrically - Damn!! a widescreen version exists somewhere?

We need a theatrical restoration.

Great project idea ;-)

DO IT!

Someone has to have them somewhere! Anyone?

This was my favorite growing up, I remember being a 6 year old and watching it on TV. I remember the Chinease Connection the most.

I have always dug the Spidey outfit, not bad for the 70's

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

The 1977 TV movie pilot for The Incredible Hulk is so much better than that 2003 fiasco. Both the pilot and the series are officially available on DVD, I think.

I vaguely remember the TV pilot for The Amazing Spider-Man. I hadn't read the comics, so the omissions in the movie didn't bother me and I remember enjoying it at the time. No official DVD, but as usual there are bootlegs for sale by dodgy ebay sellers. I imagine that the quality of these discs is no better than a VHS transfer, unless someone took the time to track down a laserdisc.

If your interested, I've copied the 1944 Captain America serial from VHS to DVD. Its pretty good, but not exactly the most faithful to the source material. Captain America has no shield, different secret identity, etc. If you can get past the 'nothing is the same from the comics' its pretty good. This also has no offical release, as far as I know.

Punisher (1989), Captain America (1990), The Flash (TV)-
All have official releases, not too hard to find.

Nick Fury-
I think this was only broadcast on TV for one night. I'd love to see it.

Generation X-
I have a crappy bootleg of the original broadcast, but it was released on VHS in Britain with extended scenes that were edited for TV. I'd love to see it.

M.A.N.T.I.S.-
My holy grail! Does anyone have this?

Spidey-
As I said, I can do a VHS to DVD for the original. Laserdisc would be best if someone has one. Also, if you're in a PAL nation, I assume your VHS copies would make for a much better DVD than my NTSC.

According to lddb.com, The Amazing Spider-Man was only released on LD in Japan and the UK (and on CED in the US). Japan also had LD releases of the two sequels.

Is this information correct or is lddb.com incomplete? The UK disc is listed under "animation" which makes me think it's a cartoon series.
:: Edit - yes, it's almost certainly the 1967 "Spider-Man" cartoon series.

If anyone ever finds a US LD for sale I'll certainly consider getting it. The Japanese discs apparently have subtitles burned into the picture.

Yeah, I've seen that version. The extra scene (singular, if I recall correctly) was terrible. It also stuck out like a sore thumb, because the film is so kid-friendly, except in this scene wherein Jubilee says, "I just cosmically shit my fuckin' pants."

Just found out the complete season 1 & 2 of The Amazing Spider-Man was uploaded to Myspleen (last June - shows how often I check that site).

Episodes are VHS rips, Xvid-encoded video in AVI files. I don't know what the quality of the capture is like.

I'm certain that the Nick Hammond Spider-Man movies have been officially released, but can I find them? Bollocks, can I.

Those are probably the same rips I grabbed a while back. They're OK, but I would like a DVD rip of them. I'll have to grab them and see if they're the same.

Pretty sure this show has never been officially released, so any so-called DVDRip you might find would be from a bootleg VHS->DVD conversion.

The 90's Spider-Man cartoon on myspleen, much like the 90's X-Men cartoon, has been released officially on VHS and DVD as specific episodes, but never the whole season or series. Most of the series you'd still need to get as TV rips.

As for the 70's Nick Hammond Spider-Man, the whole series has been released on VHS, the newest ones being from Rhino video (the more recent the recording, the less the degradation). You can find them on Ebay, though they're long out of print (1997?) and it takes a while for a specific episode to go up. The three movies (The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man Strikes Back AKA The Deadly Dust, and The Chinese Web AKA The Dragon's Challenge) are easier, especially on Ebay UK (assuming you can transfer PAL).
