Yea I'm going to fix 'em, these are just my Workprint copies. The final Version will be great.

I must say, I like the old shot better on the first one - the blue, dark tint is easier on the eyes (am I turning into George?) but the second shot's color correction looks pretty good.

There's some good discussion here in the more recent posts.

Adywan's done some amazing color correction work. Here's his post with some comapartive corrections:

It looks to me what OCP has done is just raise the gamma settings without adjusting the input black & white levels. Using just the gamma setting will bring out all the noise in the darker & some other areas. I came across this problem when i was first attempting to colour correct ANH. But i found that you only need to raise the gamma very slightly and then use the input white level to brighten without bringing out too much noise. Here's an comparison example. Here you can see that i have managed to brighten up the image without bringing out too much noise in the darker areas and is almost as bright as OCP's. i boosted the saturation on my image just to match OCP's just for this example. The original of mine has had the saturation dropped by about 20%

I find it is always best to do some quick renders first onto a dvd-rw and check on a few tv's to see if any problems have occured with brightening & colour correction. The problem with the 2004 DVD's is that the detail has been lost in the black areas and no amount of brightening will fix this. Its all just finding a good balance between brightness & minimal image noise.

Your color-corrected frame grab of Han and Chewie has a little too much green in it to my eye. I do like the brighter treatment you did to the second frame grab, but the blacks are a little washed out. I realize that you're working with a degraded picture to start with, but maybe there are some tips to pick up.

Ok I have been busy with some school work in the past week and now that I'm free of all that I am gonna get back on my FanEdit. But first I need you people to list all the stuff you want removed (this edit is for the entire forum not just me). I also need to know what program is good for Color Correction. Thank you for all the support on this edit and I hope to see lots of replies.

Trimming the cringes from the Holiday Special? I'm surprised you had over five minutes of footage left!

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I'm using "Mpeg Video Wizard DVD" but I also have "Sony Vegas 7", with that said I will finalize the edit with Vegas.

Also what else should I cut other than the stuff I listed?

Well, I just got done doing the main editing on my cut of the Holiday Special and I pretty much cut out as much of the wookie stuff as possible, then also got rid of all the musical numbers and tried to make a Readers Digest version of the "plot" (if you can call it that)

IMO, it's turned out pretty good so far - I've wittled it down to 30 mins from 2 hours

I should be done soon - Vegas 8 kicks ass for editing!

I just got done watching my edit - it's pretty good I think, I have a few things to fix but here's what I noticed immediately that I hadn't noticed during editing:

I completely removed Leia, Saundann (except in 2 spots) and almost all the wookie talking when there's no humans around

I have at least 3 or 4 edits I have to still make - mostly just repairs and better transitions

I adjusted the brightness/contrast/blue levels on the entire video to take out some of the orangey hue

There's others, I'll add it in a bit when I get to class

No Problem. For me it's busy too, I wanna release this before Christmas and I'm also getting iPod's that I have to fix for Christmas presents for my whole family. Also that Star Wars Holiday Special DVD ME WANTS! LOL, I will probably preserve it.

I have finally reached the final steps in this edit. I need 2 things though, one I need to know the best program to make a DVD with Custom Menus and stuff. Number two I need to have a final cover made (but this one will be sorted out fast). This Release will be ready around Christmas (just in time to watch). In the Near Future I will Release a Special Edition Version of my Edit (depending on how popular it is). It will have a commentary by me and my friend Bob, My Workprint copy of the Film, A Remastered Video and Sound Version of my Edit (Possibly), and some other Goodies and Easter Eggs (can't tell). Anyway thanks for reading my update and I can't wait till you see it.

Sounds cool, Bob. What about including the Rifftrax OBtwosy mentioned as an additional/alternate audio track but edited to fit your edit (if the Rifftrax is still funny)?

You're misinterpreting this forum's definition of preservation. This audio does not need 'preservation' because it's available to buy at the site you mention. (If you want more information, read the FAQ in my sig.)

I have now finished everything (almost)! All I need is a nice opening crawl sequence and a Starfield background I can use (that looks Star Warsy). If anybody can help me with this I would be greatly appreciated.
