Very good point!

Also, I loved that Watto got a cameo.

And as far as its keeping with 1977 - Kenobi's exterior home shot was the 1977 version.

It was good until they got to the Death Star. Then the language and Jokes started getting pretty Offencive . I liked the shots and the reference to Dr.Who was when they were going through Hyperspace and i like the John Wiliams references as well oh the Jawa Sandcrawlers pulling up to the light and one handing the other a jar of Grey Pupon Mustard. Obi Wan I winced through his character but I didn't like it and who can forget Darth Stewie That was cute.

While i quite like the show this special falls kinda flat. There's not much point seeing it when you can just watch the film and make similar comments to your buddies. A lot of scenes were almost a straight retelling of the film with less focus on making something funny. with a source as widely known as star wars they could have really gone nuts with jokes and references. I guess as they pointed out Robot chicken beat them to the punch, and did a much better effort.

It actually would have been more entertaining if they'd grouped all the previously shown star wars clips throughout the series, except the fact that we've seen them all already i guess.

That said i did laugh hard at the cantina band and a few other lines.

In the end, it wasn't that great but i wasn't expecting great anyway so it killed some time for me.

a few select scenes actually looked much beeter than the film [read:2004 dvd] too.

the best part was that han shot greedo period. and greedo was that gay guy who saves the coffee and oreos for the cats, LOL

"Family Guy: Blue Harvest" Coming to DVD

http://starwars.com/community/news/media/img/20071105_1_bg.jpg

A long time ago, but somehow in the future ...Fox Home Entertainment presents an outrageous look at the Star Wars universe with "Family Guy: Blue Harvest," a parody of the movie that started it all -- Episode IV A New Hope -- on DVD on January 15. The release promises never-before-seen footage, commentaries, interviews with George Lucas and others, and a first look at the next hilarious intergalactic adventure.

In the season premiere of the offensively uproarious series' sixth season, "Blue Harvest" finds Peter, Lois, Chris, Stewie, Brian and some of Quahog's finest in the middle of George Lucas' beloved science-fiction epic. Feel the Farce in the most irreverent and hilarious way possible; with Han Solo (Peter) Dumpster diving for furniture; Darth Vader (Stewie) soiling his diapers; Luke (Chris) battling against "Thai" fighters; and C-3PO (Quagmire) flirting with a 1980s dot-matrix printer. Featuring hysterical cameos from Rush Limbaugh, Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo and Helen Reddy, "Family Guy" Presents: "Blue Harvest" is "a dead-on homage that hilariously picks apart Star Wars, along with much of real life" (Associated Press).

The DVD features more than four minutes of never-before-seen material; an uncensored track; animatics; commentaries; interviews with Seth MacFarlane and George Lucas; and a first look at a now-in-production "Family Guy" Star Wars spoof (which goes by the working title of "Something, Something, Something Dark Side).

Also available for true "Family Guy" and Star Wars fans is a special edition DVD that features collectible packaging, trading cards, an exclusive brochure, 3-D glasses, a t-shirt and more. The "Family Guy" Presents: "Blue Harvest" DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $22.98 U.S. / $ 25.98 Canada. The special edition is available for a suggested retail price of $34.99 U.S. / $46.98 Canada; prebook is December 19, 2007.

I'm not going to buy it. I didn't like the episode that much but the special edition packaging sure is impressive.

wow, they really are going all out on the packaging. I too found the episode a bit flat and would be hard pressed to buy it. If they were to include a montage of all the star wars parody clips to date and some other extra content i might reconsider. It all just seems a bit much for a two part episode - I mean wont this show up as part of the season box set proper anyway?

One should think so. As I don't buy the seasons I will gladly pick this up--but most Family Guy fans will be getting the season set, so theoretically you should get this sometime late next year. I guess they are appealing mainly to SW fans who don't necessarily buy the seasons--and yikes look at that packaging! Is this thing being made by Lucasfilm? Seems quite excessive for something so small--I mean the episode is cute as a nice little tribute but its really nothing more.

I wonder what the other Star Wars-related episode is--i had heard they were going to do ESB as well. Personally i hope they don't, since it kinda takes the special-ness away from this tribute, and I'm not sure if I want a million Family Guy Star Wars episodes. But I guess it would still be funny.

Fox Yes, Lucasfilm No.

The packaging is my only interest and why I made mention of it here. Family Guy and Fox really put together a great set and would like to see something like this for oh I don't know... a real Star Wars dvd release.

If it was done by Lucasfilm it would be nothing this elaborate. From every SW dvd release to Indy Lucasfilm's packaging and coverart have, to put it bluntly, Fucking Sucked.

Oh and I forgot to point out one of the features "Interviews with Seth MacFarlane and George Lucas ". I'd be pretty interested to see the interview/s with Lucas when this is released. It should be midly entertaining in the very least.

George: Oh yes, I always envisioned back in '76 when I was making the original Star Wars and Seth was a pre-schooler that in 2007 it would, according to my vision, be lovingly parodied by Seth in an animated pop-culture referencing television show . It was always my intention, as noted in my original outline.

yea but they'd probably just use the excuse that they'd need to make millions of copies in order to justify cheaping out on the packaging.

What exactly is that next spoof "Something something something dark side"? I've found a small clip on YouTube with that scene from Family Guy, but is there something bigger planned? Maybe even spoofing Empire and Jedi as well?

Didn't Mark Hamill lend his voice to one of the Family Guy-Star Wars spoofs (the laser eye surgery one?) I saw the clip on YouTube and it sure sounded like him.
