Macrovision problem

Howdy.

I would like to capture VHS on my computer. I tried Nero Vision 5, and it showed a preview and all that jazz, but it said it's macrovision protected and won't let me record. There are things I have that I know will never be released on DVD, so I just want to preserve them digitally. Is there a way to get around it using that program, or should I try something else?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What's your capture card/device? Alternative drivers and software might be available that do not check for the presence of macrovision.

Alternatively you can buy a macrovision remover (aka a video stabilizer) to put between your VCR and your capture device.
