Pay for a premium usenet provider like giganews or astraweb. Trying to use your ISP for newsgroup access (especially binaries) is only an exercise in futility. You're going to have to pay for that bandwidth...

So I only see 126 message because my isp wont let me see more than that? There should be a way to ignore or mark unwanted posts as read to read earlier messages to get to the ones I want. Right?

Not really....it sounds like your ISPs retention is horrible.....I'd listen to what MoveAlong said.....

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

There might be. Is there any way to tell forte to just grab everything? I know GrabIt defaults to a 500000 article history limit, but that can be removed.

You should really consider using a newsreader that supports .nzb files - like NewsBinPro.

.nzb files can be found from various places and those files contain everything you need to download what you want.

When it comes to ISP providers... I don´t think the retention and completion is on the level you need. You must change news provider. Giganews is what I have been using for years. They now have retention up to 200 days (they will build up that from 100 to 200 days during summer and fall). It will cost you $25 to get those Wookie 1080p ones but I think it´s worth it. Just cancel your subscription after the download.

Just ask if you need any help

I'm just wondering if there's any chance somebody can post the ocpmovie edits of episode IV (v2 preferred, but I'm not to fussy) and VI? I don't really have anything to offer, except ocpmovie's edit of episode V, though if you have those two you probably have Empire.

Thanks in advance for any help. ^^

I use my isp for most stuff but when the completion sucks I goto usenetserver.com
They have 3 days for $3. 100 day retention. SO download like crazy for 3 days. I use this every few months when I miss something.

Hello, I was wondering if alt.binaries.starwars is working right now? I haven't used usenet for about 6 months and kind of forgot how to do it. So I re taught myself and using grabit and usenetserver.com right now, but for the past two days I can't get starwars to work. I've gotten other groups to work but when I search for alt.binaries.starwars all I get is one message that says "open letter to alt.binaries.starwars readers" which appears to be some type of spam. So anyone else having this type of problem or am I just screwing something up? Thanks

The group is still there. Maybe it's an issue with your provider.

I hate to say it but in the past few months there has been very little on ABSW that is worth downloading.

I'd like to participate in a possible ABSW flood, just to give the place a kick in the pants. Maybe would could all conspire on this topic? I'm always happy to lend a hand.

In the past few months the group has seen:
  • A rare 1980 documentary on John Williams' work on ESB
  • Numerous DVDs and HD video files from Wookie Groomer
  • Two of babyhum's DVD releases
  • Belbucus' restored mono mix, and other audio files
  • The Story of TESB DVD from MoveAlong (and a repost of The Story of SW)
  • Daveytod's The Clones Revealed DVD
I'd hardly say that was very little worth downloading. (Unless you're talking about a different absw, e.g. alt.binaries.sounds.whalemusic? )

Hi
I have a hudge request for anyone with bandwidth, kindness and time.

i unfortunately missed most of Wookie Groomer project on my usenet sources and
the only one that seems to be still available are
Jedi 1080P Split Screen V2
Attack Of The Clones 1080P 12GB
Empire Strikes Back Split Screen V2

i was able to grab
Attack Of The Clones 1080P 12GB and Phantom Menace DVD9 1080P
split screen project dont interest me but all the rest that i missed does
hopefully someone will have the kindness to reupload.

A new upload is very unlikely, but if you switch to a different news provider you can get longer retentions which will allow you to get the ones you seek. some news providers have 200 day retention!

Now that Giganews has 200 days of binary retention, you're going to find that people are going to repost much less often. That's true for me.

Don't waste your time with usenet unless you are paying for a PREMIUM provider and don't ask for reposts a couple of weeks (or days) later. You're most likely going to be ignored or chastised...

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

Wow! I picked up MoveAlong's The Story of The Empire Strikes Back last night and it was fantastic. What an outstanding effort. And this is a great way to re-experience something I loved as a boy. I can't thank you enough. Cheers.

Yeah, I want to second that. Thank you MoveAlong. My self and my kids love them. Very professional effort, I dare say "Hollywood" quality.

Many thanks to Wookie Groomer for all his work with these!

Did I miss them, or did the pars for the 12GB Episode I not get posted? I've refreshed my message list, but don't see them.

Thanks!

No pars. I have been told by several leechers on another site that it was a perfect download and pars were not needed.

OK, thanks for the response. I guess I'm not clear on when they're needed- Episode III was perfect for me as far as I could tell, but there were pars. On this one, I know I have some incomplete files.

I can see not wanting to add on the overhead of the redundant pars, but would you consider submitting either the main par2 file or an sfv so we can tell which files might have been corrupt?
