When the 'ulimate' composite version is completed and Dark Jedi is (rightfully) performing artwork duties, I hope he considers this iconic image which has always been a favourite of mine.

I'd like to THANK you meedermow, for using MY DAWN OF THE DEAD Monroeville Mall and Airport Tour DVD as the basis of your 4th DISC! I have been selling this on e-bay for years! The credits on your fan preservation don't reflect this FACT! Anyone can purchase my DVD at my site DELETED, it comes with a custom made cover by me! Why wouldn't you ask before you used it? Or at least acknowledge where it came from? What do you think? Forum members?

Since you (meedermow), have used my material, maybe you can make it up to me some way! Who knows? In the meantime, I did want to tell you about certain things that I have that may be of interest of you. I am a collector of many rare items from movies and tv. Especially horror and Dawn of the Dead! Earlier in this thread it said you needed the Dutch Dawn Of The Dead DVD. Well I have it and most any other edition ever made including every laserdisc edition, except for the German Red Edition DVD. I also have the george romero interview in his home from the old japanease laserdiscs, scream greats, and tons of other rare items. Maybe I can help you! Let me know!

Well I can assure you that meedermow did not know. I gave him the disc, and I got it from someone else. We had no idea. Sorry.

I don't want to discuss the issue of selling fan preservation content, but perfectfuture, I hope you and Meedermow get to talking as it sounds like you could provide some good content for another disc, perhaps. Let's get this stuff out there for the masses.

To contact me outside the forum, for trades and such my email address is my OT.com username @gmail.com

perfectfuture - indeed I had no idea that it was your original disc and would have happily given you due credit.

However, judging from your initial postings I'm presuming the "you can make it up to me some way" would be financial - or that you'd request payment for those future items you're referring to, should that be the case I'll politely decline.

However if you are interested in the project (which if you hang around here for any length of time you'll realise no money *ever* changes hands) then you'd be welcome to send me a PM - ensure your PM's are switched on in your profile and we'll talk and see what we can do. If you've seen the disc itself you'll have my email too and realise that it's not just your items that are featured on the disc itself.

This is all by the fans for the fans.

damn Meedermow you are ALOT more polite than me,in my eyes you owe him NOTHING,we dont sell our projects around here, but "other" assmunches sure take alot of effort to sell our work, and make a nice profit.
I got your back MM,if it gets to tough for you, step aside,I will take care of everything LOL

In what sense is it his disc, I wonder? Did he shoot the footage? Or maybe he purchased the rights?

Or did he rip the video from someone else's source? And if he did that, did he give them credit or compensate them? One wonders...

[EDIT] Of course, now we know. Sounds like the fella's got a legitimate point.

I wouldn't be surprised if he shot the footage. There were a bunch of people on those tours with video cameras (I went on two of them). If I had taped it, I woulda offered it up here a while ago, but alas...

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Think I may have been a bit hasty. I could not reach his ebay store earlier today, but deleted the link because I assumed he was selling bootlegs. However, it seems that this is in fact his own footage that he filmed himself. I know this goes against the "by the fans for the fans" mantra, but perfectfuture has every right to sell it commercially.
Sorry.

Just to keep you all posted

The DOTD composite edit is coming along, originally i was editing the 29.97fps interlaced footage although i realise now that wasn't the best option as i would end up with a video stream running at 29.97 full frames per second with the interlacing encoded into each picture frame. about a week ago i decided to start again but run the DGindex project files through the TMPGEnc IVTC and re-save it as a tpr project file (using VFAPI again to produce the fake AVI files) so again there is only one re-code of the mpeg file when exporting it from premiere. so i now i am editing a progressive source running at 23.976fps, then i'll output it as 23.976fps progressive and use flags in the MPEG stream to get the player/software to perform the pulldown on playback, resulting in a much better quality picture on a TV and progressive playback where possible, and im now back up to 45mins.

I never meant money as a way that you could repay me, I meant maybe trades or any other possibility! I also do not sell bootlegs on my website www.daniellesdiscountdvdstore.com . I only sell 100 % brand new, real dvds, at discount prices! As for all your assumptions....I filmed the tours and made the DVD and I sell it on e-bay as I should be able to. I am not selling fan edits, your preservation projects, or doing anything that would cause anyone one this forum to wish me banned or censored. You are using MY material and state that your project should not be sold! COOL! But, it is perfectly fine for me to sell what I created and have been selling on E-bay for well over 2 years!

As I said yesterday, I have a lot of DOTD related material. I have an pittsburgh comicon 2003 dvd made by a german guy (it's in english). It contains a 1 hour long panel discussion with the cast of Dawn Of The Dead and some seperate interviews. It also has a different mall and airport tour and a tour of the Evans City Cemetary from NOTLD and many photos from the event. I also went to a Horrorfind convention in August of 2004 when they had a Day Of The Dead Cast reunion and Dawn Of The Dead cast reunion with George Romero in atttendance. They conducted an hour long discussion also. I have a ton of footage and pics from this event that I filmed including me meeting George Romero. I don't have access to rapid share or any AIM number and prefer not to upload things to the internet. But could mail! I collect all items that I can find from Dawn Of The Dead, Day of The Dead, Return Of The Living Dead, and Re-Animator...plus tons of other things that interest me. Any of this sound interesting?

I was at that panel discussion in 2003, and I for one would love to see it again. That and any Re-Animator goodies you've got. Perhaps we can exchange lists?

perfectfuture - I've sent you a message via your ebay store.

Also I missed the update from see no evil in regards to his edit - nice one, sounds like it's coming along well

Great to hear about the progress on your composite cut, See No Evil. Can't wait for the day when I slip it into my DVD player...

As for you Perfectfuture, tis indeed a shame you weren't consulted on the use of your footage but perhaps you should have learnt from Image Ten's mistake back in 1968 ...and put a copyright notice on your property! Welcome to the forums and, indeed, this thread. I hope you choose to stick around and contribute. It sounds like we could use you!

Sounds awesome man,and sorry that I didn't know the disc was yours,I got it from someone that said nothing about you,so again sorry.

But it sounds like Dawn of the Dead Disc 5 or 6(depending on what meedermow wants to do) could have....

Comicon 2003 Panel
Horrorfind Panel
Airport/Mall Tour Number #2

and maybe in the Special thanks section Meedermow you could put the video of perfectfuture meeting George Romero!

perfectfuture send me and meedermow a email or something. Do you have any other Dawn stuff? And could you email your complete list? I'm interested in seeing it!

This Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition Volume 2 Project keeps getting better and better.

I mean

Discs 1-4 are complete and now a possible 5 and 6,and then the 2 Ultimate Composite Edit makes 7 and 8!!! Very exciting to be a part of this project, and being the person who's idea it came from. Very exciting indeed

Did anyone ever get in touch with Rhodesisgod about the interviews he filmed? I know he runs a horror review site at www.bloodtypeonline.com and always conducts excellent interviews.

Do or do not...there is no try...

I sent him a email today actually right before you posted that
This is what he said....

I do have some stuff from a Pittsburgh comicon Q&A from a few years
ago, but I would have to convert it from Mini-DV to DVD, which I
cannot do currently.

Anyone know how to do that?

should be a simple firewire into a PC edit suite.

My buddy use to film on Mini-DV until his camera got stolen.

Hmmm...He could also just run analog wire into a DVD recorder. Perhaps someone could do it for him. I'll try to talk to him about it for the project.
