I would love to see a hi def version of The Good The Bad and The Ugly, unextended. As in the the version that was originally released in the U.S. in 1966. I saw the extended version and it really doesn't seem to be necessary. The visuals from the added scenes don't look the same as the rest of the film and the audio dubbing doesn't sound right either cause Eastwood and Wallach just put their voices on those scenes recently for that new version and are much older now. Lee Van Cleef wasn't even alive to dub his voice in so they had to get some other actor to do it. I've heard these scenes were in the original italian release but having grown up watching the U.S. release, I just feel that's the way it should be. I've read that the italian blu ray release: Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo is a better quality remastering so maybe someone could use that as a source and take the audio from the original english version since the italian version has no english audio and put it together to make a quality version for those of us who like the film the way it was. Intention/purpose: To create the greatest and longest Ultimate Evil Dead Trilogy project with additions and minor changes.

Changes: 1. Added Opening Logos for New Line Cinema, Rosebud Releasing Corportaion, Universal Pictures, Dino De Laurentiis Communications, and Anchor Bay Entertainment.
2. Necronomicon Opening from Evil Dead II added to very beginning
3. "March of Dead" by Danny Elfman added to opening titles
4. Deleted Moonshine Sequence and Deadite roaming through the forest sequence has been reinserted.
5. Add the digitally removed Robert Tapert version of the Oldsmobile crossing the bridge (taken from the Blu-Ray and downsizing it to DVD quality)
6. Delted Dungeon and Fixing the Cock sequences reinserted.
7. Piano Scene from Evil Dead II with Ash and Linda has been added to Evil Dead. Also the necklace bit from that scene has been removed.
8. Dinner scene extended
9. Ash skimping through The Book of The Dead sequnce extended.
10. Knowby narration from Evil Dead and Evil Dead II combined to add more information. With added music.
11. Removed Knowby's line "I know now that my wife has become host to a Khandarian Demon." so that way it's revealed later.
12. 2nd Knowby narration from Evil Dead slightly altered.
13. 1st card fix to 7 of Hearts
14. 2nd card fix to 7
15. Ash burying Linda from Evil Dead II added to Evil Dead.
16. More deleted/extended sequences from Evil Dead added.
17. Got rid of very ending to Evil Dead. This leads right into Evil Dead II (minus the recap).
18. Wall with clock added to Cabin right before Deadites before possesses Ash.
19. In one scene in the Fruit Celler when Ash tries to find the Necronomicon Pages, his chainsaw hand is on the other side, the scene has been flipped to the other side so it stays constant.
20. Add the line "Let evil reign for a thousand years!" from the workprint
21. Very ending to Evil Dead II removed. This goes right into Army of Darkness (minus the prologue). However, shots of knights from Evil Dead II's finale have been added.
22. Ash's grunt when he lands in 1300 AD in the Theatrical Version of Army Of Darkness has been reinserted
23. Possibly the idea of replacing the version of Ash landing on the ground with the fan-remastered one done by Zaaacharias (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=6958)
24. In Army Of Darkness, the Wiseman was on one side of King Arthur and the next, he's on the other. This has to be fixed.
25. Arthur's line "To the pit!" from Theatrical version has been reinserted among other things.
26. After Arthur punches Ash to the ground, add music that was heard where the knights agree to send Ash to the pit (because music can be heard when Ash says "You miserable bastards!)
27. One scene of Ash being dragged in the very beginning has been added.
28. Evil Ash's line "I...live...again." from theatrical version has been reinserted.
29. Evil Shelia has now Deadite eyes.
30. "Bring forth the scout!" line has been reinserted but in a different manner and voiced by someone else. I could say that line.
31. When Henry The Red and his men come to save the day, the sky looks a little bright. Fix this to make the sky a little darker. (Possibly using the Screwhead Edition)
32. S-Mart ending is there. No Apocalyptic ending.
33. "Magic" by Pilot, "Skin" by Joseph LoDuca, and other scores from the trilogy added to credits. Rest of original credit music from Army of Dakness will stay in there.
34. Credits redone to include EVERY single cast and crew member of the trilogy in Evil Dead font.
35. Added contributors who helped/supported on this project.

-Later editions might include additional (A.K.A. workprint) footage from Evil Dead II and your choice to view the film with either the S-Mart ending or the Apocalyptic ending via seamless branching (Ending only).

Don't know if this has been thought of before, but how about an edit of Star Wars that incorporates the prequel movies as "Lost-style" flashbacks? Maybe even cut it up into TV sized pieces?

A few things I have been considering doing

Repo men fanedit -changing the start to the motion comic and removing the stupid ending as well as trying to rearrange for a bit more suspense and a darker tone.

Boondock Saints 2 - just be a cleanup to improve pacing of first half of the movie and to remove as much of the annoying chick as possible

As a little side project, I had been working on a fast moving striped down version of "ROUGHNECKS: Starship Troopers Chronicles”. I’ve got most of the “Pluto Campaign” cut so far. The computer art version of “Starship Troopers” is so much better then the live action films. Now with all the other projects I’ve taken on, ROUGHNECKS has somehow been put on hiatus. Hope I can get back to it soon.

In Despecialized Star Wars… how much effort would it take to switch the Yavin base shot with the special edition’s one? I would much rather look at the CGI wall instead of the blank grey one.

Would these changes mess up with the frames / subtitles etc with the rest of the movies? I mean… are the special edition shots longer than the original ones? The Emperor one might be a problem since the dialogue and everything is different?

Not much. You can use your own editing software and create your own version which is what I did with Harmy’s Star Wars Despecialized. I swapped in the SE Alderaan and Death Star explosions, as well as the X-wing shots in and around Yavin. It was easy.

You might want to consider swapping in Adywan’s hologram for the Emperor. I just finished editing Empire Strikes Back Despecialized, and I really considered that choice heavily; however, I elected to just stick with the original. All of Adywan’s versions are an improvement over the 2004 SE hologram and offer continuity compared to the original, but ultimately I decided the final version Adywan put out with the whole scene just wasn’t enough of a homerun for me to justify the edit. I wish he would have done something more like what he did in the trailer he put out. Anyway, I was really unsure about this one so I elected to defer to the creative decisions of the brilliant people who made the original film.

Most of the edits are very easy and just require swapping shots in and out. However, some edits may require experience and creativity. I will give you some examples:

-On Hoth, some of the speeder shots don’t look good anymore. I swapped them in with BluRay footage, and these edits were extremely easy. Assuming you cut the edits in the right places, you won’t even notice while watching.

-On Cloud City, when the Falcon lands there is a wipe in the frame rather than a camera cut, and so editing around the wipe or creating your own wipe requires a little more effort than say the snow speeder edits I did earlier in the movie, especially if you want it to look seamless and good.

-Later on, there is the shot with Leia in the window right before Lando’s betrayal. The original shot looks very dated and bad to me, so I edited in the SE version, but it comes with all of Lucas’s usual CGI quackery, which I didn’t want or need. Of course, you could just edit in the entire SE sequence which would be the quick and easy path, but it’s really out of place in the film if you ask me.

What I did was I only used the SE shot from the window’s exterior, and all of that other junk with ships flying around a fake computer-looking city I cut out. That edit requires creativity though because as you alluded to, the timing is off between the two versions and therefore the soundtrack won’t match. I had to cut the new shot into the right place to match with the sound effects of the escort ship flying by, but then there was dead space until the camera cuts into the room with Han and Leia. Luckily, there was a moment while Leia was pacing around where she briefly stopped in the room–it was at that point I spliced the shot and slowed the rest down to match the timeline and get the sequence back to the correct timing.

-Finally, I edited in the shot of Vader’s shuttle flying to the Executor, but not the scene from ROTJ where he lands and disembarks that stops the whole movie in its tracks. This was the most difficult and time consuming edit I did on either film, because the soundtracks are mismatched when you add in a whole new scene with different musical timing. But, after some persistence and a few tries, I was able to finish it perfectly.

I’d love to see an edit of Star Wars : Attack of the Clones that removes the awful sandpeople subplot. I’ve always seen this plot point as useless to the series and Anakin becoming Darth Vader. I thought he was supposed to be a good guy that became evil? Anakin killing them just makes it look like he was never good and was evil from the beginning

About a week ago I watched the Kevin Costner film Mr. Brooks. I’ve seen the movie a couple times now, think it’s pretty good, but don’t care for the character of Tracy Atwell. I’m also none too keen on the overall look of the film.

Essentially, what I envision in my mind is a fan-edit of Mr. Brooks that completely excises Atwell from the movie; the narrative would be told completely from Brooks’ POV – keeping a tight focus on his conflicts with Marshall and Smith and the problems with his daughter – without Atwell’s diversionary side story detracting from the main plot.

Furthermore, I’d re-render most of the film in black and white, to amp up the film noir quality. Only a select few items associated with violence and death – the murdered redhead’s hair, Marshall’s clothing, Jane’s lips, and the blood – would be in colour (all red).

My working title for this fan-edit would be Thumbprint. (Not very imaginative, I know.)

The Discotek release of the infamous EBOLA SYNDROME features, for the first time ever, the long-thought lost deleted shots containing the more… extreme moments of the film, removed prior to release. Sadly, they exist only in compilation form as an extra feature. They are, however, provided in high quality anamorphic video. To re-insert the scenes into the main feature, there may or may not be some colour matching involved and there is also the added challenge of dealing with subtitles but if anyone out there is game to try it, I’d be happy to provide a copy of the disc. I can’t imagine why Discotek didn’t do this themselves but that’s the way it goes in the DVD business, sometimes, I guess.

Love that film. It’s so wrong and so funny because of it.
