Who would that be? I used something entirely different and it will be obvious once you watch it from the beginning.

No offense, that was just a joke. I LOVE your split-screen comparission, but this reminds me on an old AviSynth sample script

OK everyone, the DVD is posting. It will take several days. Please post feedback after you had time with it.

This disks sits in my player and each night depending on my mood I may watch any one of the six and when there is a boring part, a split second glance and I'm watching more action packed Stars Wars goodness.

Thank!

Wookie Groomer - It is so crazy to me that you are (rightfully so) one of the more revered project-makers here, and yet you only have posted 9 times, despite having been a member for two years. Thanks for all of your contributions - they have been invaluable to so many people.

WG, is there a cover for this eye-candy or can someone here volunteer?

And are there any hidden items? It seems like it would be a perfect place for some files like the simultanious crawls that other project had. Check it out here.

This posting may not appear on alt.binaries.starwars for people using some newsgroup servers - particularly those supplied free through an ISP.

The files are posted to alt.binaries.dvd and alt.binaries.starwars in that order. With alt.binaries.dvd being the primary group and appearing only on premium services, it somehow prevents the files being picked up by non-premium services.

ie, us ntl/virginmedia users are screwed!!!!!

The sample went up on alt.binaries.hdtv and alt.binaries.starwars which worked OK but the dvd group causes a problem.

Oh, BTW, I'm not on the forums often enough to know this but are the crappy "original trilogy" DVD's that came out last year accurate enough to justify creating a new and accurate Episode IV splitscreen v2.0? I want to make it better and I would rather use retail quality stuff and not bootlegs. Also, if it is, are they DVD9 or DVD5? I would redo it as a DVD9 and would use the source DVD's as they are with no re-encoding to make the quality bestest as possible. I don't have them since they were not anamorphic.

My opinion for what it is worth is that an Episode IV splitscreen v2.0 is worth doing.

People will argue all day about this but in my opinion, allowing for all it's faults, the 2006 retail DVD is a better picture quality than the original TR47 you originally used.

Also, the 2006 retail DVD has the original 1977 crawl - albeit re-created - which would be well worth seeing in your split screen format.

If I were to see an unaltered DVD9 of 2006 Episode IV release in the bins you may see a new splitscreen v2.0 Since I still have all my assets from the "Addicted To" project now would be the time to do this before I wipe them out, all of them...

For those not on the 'bin' or 'net', are there plans for a torrent of the DVD-9 release? I really enjoyed the splitscreens that Wookie Groomer made, and I am also willing to PIF.
Thanks.

if I can get a hold of a copy, I'll PIF it out as well.

I agree with Russ (except I thought it was decided the the '77 crawl was authentic?)

The only anachronism is the sound mix - the 2006 DVD features the '93 mix remastered for the DC LDs. To be theatrically authentic you could use Belbucus' capture of the '77 Dolby Stereo mix.

I know this isnt the best thread to ask this but do all the Wookie Groomer Spilt Screen editions have that disclaimer appear throughout the movie ?

How is one to burn this? I have no idea what kinds of files these are that I have once I extracted. I am familiar with image files and vobs, etc. But I don't know what these files are that are in this folder and what I am to use to burn a working disc with them?

Thanks in advance for a response to my stupidity.

I stopped reading nfo's a long time ago since there was usually nothing in there that I really needed to know. Guess I was wrong.

Thanks.

Is it possible to create a fix to adjust the out-of-sync problem by halfway through the movie?

I just started watching this, and I have to say it is the most Star Wars related fun I have had in ages.
It really is a perverse pleasure listening to all of the audio at the same time and trying to focus on just one film at any given point and pick out the dialogue.
I found myself really enjoying it.
Also, having them all up there at once with just the isolated score, you can really see how bad the lighting is on ROTS - it looks like 'Days of our Lives' or any of those daytime soap operas. You can also see how much more distracting the backgrounds etc. are in the new films, especially in key 'emotional' scenes there is stuff flicking around behind the players. Everyone seems more 'costumey' too.
Funny how many things really jump out at you when they are all side by side and there isn't any dialogue, you get a much better sense of the visuals, and surprisingly ROTS (which I enjoyed at the cinema) really looks sub par when viewed like this. The other films look relatively 'real' and ROTS looks like an old Star Trek episode except shiny...

Anyone know any tips for unarchiving/burning with these CloneCD .dvd/.001 files on a mac?

$ cat AddcitedToStarWars.00? >FILENAME.ISO <Enter>
Of course, you can choose whatever ISO filename you like.

AddcitedToStarWars.dvd is an ordinary text file.
$ cat AddcitedToStarWars.dvd <Enter>
will display its contents.
It contains the LayerBreak position.

If you're short on disk space (aren't we all?) but don't want to delete the RAR files just yet
$ mv AddcitedToStarWars.000 FILENAME.ISO <Enter>
$ cat AddcitedToStarWars.001 >>FILENAME.ISO <Enter>
$ rm -i AddcitedToStarWars.001 <Enter>
$ cat AddcitedToStarWars.002 >>FILENAME.ISO <Enter>
$ rm -i AddcitedToStarWars.002 <Enter>
$ cat AddcitedToStarWars.003 >>FILENAME.ISO <Enter>
$ rm -i AddcitedToStarWars.003 <Enter>
$ cat AddcitedToStarWars.004 >>FILENAME.ISO <Enter>
$ rm -i AddcitedToStarWars.004 <Enter>
$ cat AddcitedToStarWars.005 >>FILENAME.ISO <Enter>
$ rm -i AddcitedToStarWars.005 <Enter>
$ cat AddcitedToStarWars.006 >>FILENAME.ISO <Enter>

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Thanxs Darth Mallwalker that worked great. Now i can pretend i'm that kid from Jurasic Park "I know Unix!".
Thanxs WookieGroomer, it really is a joy to be able to ADD-Watch the trilogies.

Lot of neet moments, for intance early on, you have TPM Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon bickering as they infiltrate the Trade Federation, mean while AotC Obi and Ani talk in the elevator. while C-3PO shows up in all three OT films. Then letting you mind float between dialogs is fun:
"Bring me the passengers i Want them alive. Han, I need you" C-3po had another moment, in ANH he's walking on Tatooine to the right, then ESB 3po is walking to the left on Hoth, then a few moments later, RotJ 3po is walking through Jabba's Dungeon.

much phun!
