Need some info on Laserdisc players and AC3 RF

I recently learned that you can create an AC3 RF out for some players that enables you to extract AC3 audio if the laserdisc has it. I was wondering how many titles have an optional AC3 track and if you think it would be worth to buy a premade AC3 RF out for such cases.

Laserdisc Database returns 1020 titles with AC-3 audio - so quite a few.

Not sure how easy it is to get hold of an RF demodulator these days. Obviously you also need a soundcard with SPDIF input.

Well, Kurtis Bahr can make me one for ~U$$100 if I recall correctly. Would it be worth it to spend that much money on it?

The alternative is to wait for a used one to appear on eBay, but you'll be lucky to get one for less than $70 (just had a look what they go for).

Only you can decide whether it's worth it or not.

I got a demodulator from Ebay for £100 (~$60). I don't know if it matters to you, but no PAL discs have AC3.
