'Queen - Live In Budapest' LD to DVD transfer (Released)

I uploaded this LD to DVD transfer on demonoid.

I once downloaded it myself from a newsgroup but I can’t remeber the name of the creator. He colorcorrected, noisefiltered and sharpened the image and it looks pretty good. So if there are Queen fans on this forum, I think you like this one.

A timely tribute, seeing as Freddie Mercury would have turned 60 last week.

Is it this version?

In that case I'm the creator.

I'm redoing it. There are some errors on the original laserdisc which I’m correcting. There was something with the audio that seemed to be wrong. But I didn’t know what. But when I recently compared the opera section of Bohemian Rhapsody with the cd version on A Night at the Opera I realised what it was. It was PAL speedup. Something that should never be used on a music based release.

That's very weird. You would think it was shot in PAL right?

No it isn't. It's shot on film. It played for a time in Hungarian cinemas.

I don't know what the problem is on my end, but I've had the torrent of this stuck at 99.9% for over 24 hours now. It keeps downloading at anywhere from 2 to 10 KB/s, but it just never finishes. I can watch it count down to about 2 seconds left and then it jumps back to 6 minutes left and keeps on downloading. This just keeps happening over and over and over... Well... You get the picture. Does anyone have an idea how I could solve this problem? I'm looking forward to checking the concert out once the download finishes.

I think the hash check of the last piece keeps failing. How many seeders are there? Maybe you should stop the torrent and start it up again and hope you get the last piece from a different peer.
This happenend to me some times but never for 24 hours. I think at maximum I had to download a piece 20 times, but that's an exception.

There are 105 seeders and I've stopped and restarted the torrent over 40 times and used different bittorrent clients and still keep getting hash failures on that last 2 megabyte chunk. It's getting really annoying at this point.

Update: I restarted the torrent yet again and let it run for 15 hours. My results: 207 hash fails and still stuck at 99.9%. I think I might just have to give up on this and delete the files because it looks like it will never complete. I can't think of anything else to try...

Worked fine for me. I'm also uploading at like 800 kb/s so get it while you can (I love using the University's bandwidth).

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

Well, I must be the unlucky one then. I have tried two different computers, connected to the internet with and without my router and still I get hash fail after hash fail after hash fail... all on the same part (piece 66 of vts_01_1.vob). If only I could connect to the torrent and just download from seeds instead of seeds and peers. That would have to work, wouldn't it?

Hmmmm... Is there any way someone who completed this could make a private torrent that I could try to connect to and see if I could get the last 2 megabytes I need?

Wer-Al, are you redoing this one by slowing down the audio and converting it to NTSC? Also what are the errors on the disc you are talking about. I have this LD too so maybe together we have the whole thing without errors.

This is probably one of the best Queen concerts on film ever. I have the VHS of it and it's a real keeper. The quality of sound and the performance are awesome (I haven't seen this transfer yet though). I heard they used just about every film camera available in the country for it... Something like 16 cameras?

Thanks for posting it.

Actually I already finished my new version, but I didn't put it on usenet yet. The errors I was talking about are things like:
1 Speedup
2 A noisier second side compared to the first
3 Unoptimized colors (Not realy an error, but something that could be better)
4 Pan/Scan (Not sure about the original aspect ratio)

Number 4 is unfortunately impossible for me to fix, but the other things are fixed by now. The final product is NTSC and has a sharper and more natural look, because less details are filtered out.

BTW The reason I redid this one, was because, while it looked fine one my old CRT screen, the old transfer seemed to soft on my new TFT screen.

Version 2 sounds very good. I hope you're going to share this one.
Is it a dual layer version?
Did you capture the audio digitally?
What program did you use to speedup & upconvert to 48Khz?

Version 2 is still single layer. The audio is captured digitaly. The speedadjustment is done in avisynth. The upconverting is done in Adobe Audition.

Thank you! This is great.

Is it OK if I make a torrent and upload it?
