My preferred LD capture of choice. The commentaries, the color fidelity, the extras discs. (the set I got included 2 extra discs that had The Making of Star Wars, SPFX: The Making of Empire Strikes Back, From Star Wars to Jedi, and The Creatures of ROTJ) Hell, it's even got easter eggs. The Menus are pretty impressive, as well.

This capture is about 3 years old, too, and yet it still stands up. I find the picture to be better than the TR47 boot, mostly because of the color fidelity and the fact it's Anamorphic (I appreciate that since i have a 16x9 display) . It's a little softer in some spots, yeah, but those moments are few and far between.

Between this and the boot set I have with isolated score and original crawl on ANH, this is about all the original trilogy bootleg I need...

...until Zion's gets finished, of course

Hey Bizzle, how is the quality on "From Star Wars to Jedi"?.
The source is the original VHS, correct?
The only version I have is the mpeg (or maybe its an avi) from the OCPMOVIE supplement section of ROTJ.
For some reason, the "Hey, That's My Dinner" line has ALWAYS bothered me.

MoveAlong encoded the AVI for ocpmovie, sourced from RowMan's Ultimate Supplemental Collection.
I think Rikter (or one of the Blaksvn brothers) captured the VHS for RowMan.

Dr_Gonzo's source was baby hum's Japanese laserdisc with hard subs.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Also does anyone know if there are DVD covers, and disc images?

Yes, Dr_Gonzo made covers, labels, and case inserts listing the chapter stops.
I'll post them to usenet (alt.binaries.starwars) straight away.

Get an account at GigaNews or AstraWeb or any other usenet provider. Then get yourself a copy of GrabIt or Xnews. You'll have what you're looking for in no time. And remember, Google is your friend

Ok, giving it a shot now. What's the newsgroups this, GOUT and other rips are located?

'GOUT' is the term used to describe the theatrical version on the official 2006 DVD release. On this forum we don't discuss where to download rips of retail releases.

But the fan preservation projects can usually be found in alt.binaries.starwars.

I still need help with the newgroups please.

As Moth3r already said many of the preservation projects discussed here, such as alternate audio tracks to match up to your GOUT video, can be found in the alt.binaries.starwars newsgroup.

Dr_Gonzo'a set was posted in the alt.binaries.dvd group 74 days ago. Giganews might be the only provider with a retention that long....

Ok, what name is it under then please?

I'm using newsgroups now. Not too easy to set up, but intresting to use afterward. I've been intrested in seeing what many people have been saying about this definitive release for some time.

I am not sure, but you should browse for :"A new hope pre SE LD rip" or something like that.

With things like OCP's version of SW and ESB, is there still any reason to get the Gonzo set?

Is the SW commentary better than OCP's?
