My sig link was blocked to this site

Hi,

Longtime supporter/lurker.

On the Wizards Of The Coast Star Wars miniatures game forum I made Originaltrilogy.com a link to my signiature.

Recently, after the announcement of the Original Trilogy bonus disc releases, clicking on the link produces a result of "www. does not exist". Note it doesn't say "www.originaltrilogy.com" does not exist, it redirects to a generic "www." address.

This is niether a mistake nor paranoia. This is after months of the sig working normally. Everything is linked properly so it leads me to conclude they have blocked it due to negative publicity. Am I nuts? What else can I conclude?

I've also noted recent moderators posts on the forums that no one is allowed to talk about anything outside the game on the forum.

Just thought I'd pass on my experience, I'm not trying to be an alarmist but, jeeze.

You sure you didn't just misspell the link?

Ha,

Yes I did in my post above, sorry - sloppy typing. But the sig link WAS accurate (I edited my original message above to avoid confusion, again, oops).

The link worked for awhile and I checked it about a week ago and got the "address does not exist" message.

I input the address a couple of times getting the same result, even going as far as visiting the homepage, and copying and pasting the address, in case I was making some sort of mistake.

Anyone is welcome to try it if you don't believe me...

If you could provide a link to a page where this is happening ... ?

OK,

Just for fun, visit the Star Wars Minis forum, set up an account (it's pretty much automatic), put www.originaltrilogy.com in your linked signiature, check it, and see what happens.

I have a shoe here I will eat if I'm wrong...

Looks like they have a script to catch anyone leaving the site.

Any url that starts with www.origin* is blocked.

I wouldn't advise anyone to sign up for the forum just to check what signatures are allowed!

Edit - I don't think the site is deliberately blocked. I think the script is borked; it sees the "origin" and thinks that's the end of the string. You say it worked before, is the leaving script a recent addition?

No worries,

I'd be the first to point that out too.

It's way too late...

Must sleep.

Thanks for checking it out. - I am correct then?

Change the url in your sig to http://www.%6friginaltrilogy.com

The leaving script script has always been there, though the have said in forums they are in the midst of upgrades.

I have a rather dramatic note after the link that goes:

This link has been blocked from here, so please copy and paste it in a new browser window and check it out - thanks!

Tried your alternate url - no go.

I'm probably making too much of a big deal but I appreciate people jumping in here.

Thanks.

Anther possibilities is http://:@www.originaltrilogy.com/ -- the :@ at the beginning sends blank user and password fields, and may be enough to trip up WotC's filter.

If that doesn't work, you could try linking to something like this.
