Good News

I got a LightScribe DVD-RW Drive for my birthday. For those of you who don't know, LightScribe is a fascinating new tool that, once you burn your DVD, flip the disc over and the drive will automatically make a label for the disc. But you need LightScribe-compatible DVDs for it.

The good news is, now I no longer need to bug people on the forum for copies of the OOT. Now I can just go to MySpleen and download the versions I want. So now I hope everyone can make their peace with me.

That's great news. One question though, why did you need a DVD burner in order to "download" copies of the OOT from MySpleen?

MySpleen doesn't care if you have a DVD Burner or not..... I hope you didn't think you needed a burner before you could download anything....

You do know you can watch the movies you are getting from MySpleen and elsewhere, on your computer, without a DVD Burner....

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

But the torrents on MySpleen are DVD files. Unless you can show me how to turn the DVD files into watchable AVIs. But I'd still like to make my DVDs.

Most DVD playing software will play DVD files from the hard drive.

I tried that and it froze up the computer. But it already had trouble playing DVDs normally anyway. So yes I need to convert them to AVI files, because my computer can play those.

Yeah, no conversion necessary. As well as DVD player software, other media players like VLC and Media Player Classic all play DVD folders (and often disk images) just fine.

[edit]I'm too slow at posting! Ingo Sucks, it sounds like you needed to upgrade the specs of your computer more than you needed a DVD burner![/edit]

By the way, Lightscribe isn't exactly new and I don't think it is that fascinating, but I can't argue that! There are rumours of a full colour version on the horizon, now that would be more interesting.

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!

The forums at doom9.org can help. Specifically, a program called GordionKnot.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Actually, if I try to play a disc image using VLC the video really lags and skips also. And due to a crappy DVD drive it often has trouble playing burnt DVDs and my system is just a couple of years old and more than adaquate for what I need it for. So I don't think Ingo nessicarily needed to upgrade his other system specs more than he needed a DVD burner.

Ingo, it is great being able to write DVDs isn't it? I just barely got a DVD writer for my laptop a little over a month ago, I was able to free up so much hd space. Mine doesn't have LightScribe, but I really like the idea of it, the main reason I didn't worry about buying a LightScribe drive was I didn't want to pay extra for LightScribe DVD-Rs. You're lucky you can DL off of myspleen, I live on a university campus and I get my internet free through the universities wireless internet, while I can access myspleen without any trouble, bit torrents themselves are blocked.

I got a burner.

But I don't have any thread in this here OOT preservation forum

I "need to" start one right away ...

(A new thread, that is. Not a preservation project)

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…
