I have Nero but have not yet made an exact copy of a fan disc. How would I go about doing so? I have used DVD Shrink, but that program kill DVD-ROM stuff and also re-encodes the video (I think).

Choose the "Make data disc" option in Nero and just add the VIDEO_TS and the AUDIO_TS folders. Fan edits should already be sized correctly, so DVD Shrink should not be necessary.

It worked for me after downloading "Building Epmire" in any case

You lose the DVD_ROM folder if you do that. "Copy Disc" in Nero would be your best bet.

Don't use the "Data Disc" option in Nero, there's a chance that the disc may not play on all players.

Use DVD Decrypter to rip an ISO, then burn that (you can use DVD Decrypter to burn as well).

Andy and all...

Use Nero to burn DVD folders and DVD Decrypter to burn images, I found I get the best results this way.



I made this so that users can add DVD-Rom folders but you can also use these steps to make a DVD with Nero

NOW, you can also add CONTENT, JACKET_P or EXTRAS folders - Just drag and drop them into the first window as pictured above

Rikter, what are the advantages of using DVD Shrink over Nero for images? Or is it just "the way it is?"

OPPS, SORRY!!

I meant to say DVD Decrypter for DVD images.

BUT, the reason is that it it allows you to burn DL DVD images and insert the correct layer break for DL Media which insures proper playback of DL DVD's

Ah, that makes more sense . But as far as SL media goes (I don't have a DL burner), would Nero work fine for both?

and how one comes up with the right place for the layer break? citizen has that value on his release infos but i don´t know anyone else mentioning this valuable information. someone mentioned that nero can some how "find" the right place for break, but how does it work? any settings changes that needs to be done before burning? this only if the release is folder type (read=as in VIDEO_TS not .img).

Hmmm...

My version of Nero is Nero Express. When you go to make a DVD Video project, it only allows placement of DVD-type files (VOB's etc.) and when you try to add DVD-ROM content, it says this is not of the appropriate file type.

Any other options?

i have nero express 6 and the start up screen has four "buttons" on the bottom. ?, Nero, More and Exit. if you press that "Nero" button you should be able to get the right screen as described by Rikter. New combilation starts and you have to select DVD-Video. Press new and from there on use Rikters advice on how to make a dvd-video disc.

Can DVD Decrypter create an ISO from files already on the pc (say from downloading a torrent)? I have looked through it and still cannot find a way.

I have Nero Express 6 also - when I hit the Nero button, all that comes up is a screen with the Nero logo and a link to their site.

if you have nero express this wont work. you need to get a serial number for nero (the full thing) there is a spot to add serial numbers, this will unlock the full version.

No, use Imgtool classic to create your image file from your DVD folders.

Doh, I figured it out, my nero was missing "Nero Burning Rom" and I was using Nero 6, so I upgraded to Nero Ultra and BING, there it is. Thanks guys.
