I was wondering if anyone knows where to find .avi files of the '95 Laserdiscs for download. Thanks.

For download? Do you realize how large the AVI capture files are going to be?

I figure between 750mb - 1.5gb for each flick but I'm on cable so it's not that bad unless the other end is dialup .

I'm working on downloading the films from myspleen.net, even though it's taking forever. They're in VOB format, so I guess I can try to convert them to avi or just leave them as is if I ever get my hands on a DVD burner .

Ah. MBJ's talking about raw AVI caps -- which, with a proper codec, would be more like 30GB per flick! JacDan (like bourbon, do we?) must be thinking more along the lines of DivX/Xvid finished encodes. In which case, I'd recommend going the 4GB per flick route, and grabbing Citizen's large DivX versions.

Yeah, I guess I was. Not a whole lot of DIVX on my computer.

Ah ha. Yes I was referring to .avi lite (DivX) and yes there are times (not as often these days) that a wheelchair would be handy after a JD session .

So far I'm downloading these uploaded by Farsight on myspleen.net:

Star Wars.Original.Anamorphic.AC3.torrent
Empire Strikes Back - Definitive Original Edition - Anamorphic AC3
Return of the Jedi - Definitive Original Edition DVDR - Anamorphic AC3

Anyone know what rips they're based off of? TIA.

The comments on MySpleen indicate this is the Farsight set.

And, if I understand correctly, laserdisc video has to be captured from an analog stream and digitized. You can't losslessly rip the data right off the disc. So these are from captures, not rips.

My bad, I should've said captures instead of rips . The time before digital is becoming a haze for me.

Someone put some DivX rips from the Cowclops V2 DVDs up on Demonoid about 3 months ago. They still seem to be well seeded.
