Erikstormtrooper, that is awesome, thanks!

Everybody, the first post has been altered yet again, to reflect, well, I think EVERYTHING.

Which is where my problem lies. For whatever reason, my ISP - something to do with IP addresses - will not let me download from Rapid Share so I cannot get the kit to convert my specially imported NTSC copy of ROTS.

Is there any chance of having the kit uploaded elsewhere? Thanks.

Rapidshare has an issue with ISPs that use web proxies.

Some of the tricks mentioned in this post may help (but I doubt it).

Or download at work and copy to a USB memory stick to take home.

But yeah, it would be preferable to host this somewhere else.

Thanks for that link.

Somehow, using some of that info, I managed to change something in my setup to allow me to download the main file.
I cannot re-create the circumstances to allow me to download the fixed ifo files but I will keep trying.
Meanwhile, if someone could e-mail me the 100kb fixed ifo files, I would appreciate it.

I am now in the process of modifying the Fullscreen NTSC ROTS first and if that works OK I will be doing the Widescreen version too.

OK, so I use Smartripper to rip the files from the DVD, only I end up 2 different .m2v files - one that is 1:42 and some seconds, the first part of the movie, and the other turns out to be like 3493045:32 or something insane like that...

I'm screwed

I'll try again after work...

If I am successful, I will do my best to help out although I still have a long way to go and I am doing the untried Fullscreen version first.

Time for some feedback.

I too was getting an AC3 file but I got TWO M2V files and Muxman would not allow both files to be imported. It seems that Smartripper defaults to 4Gb max file size and split the M2V file accordingly. I set the max file size higher and am re-ripping now.

Now for the Fullscreen specifics. (I will know more when I finally finish)

I imported the (4Gb incomplete) M2V in Muxman and followed all the instructions. This generated a set of vob/ifo/bup files which I played using PowerDVD. The video was still Fullscreen aspect ratio and the subs were in blue and red?????

I then moved the vob files as instructed into the Video_ts folder with the rest of the "download kit" and played using PowerDVD again and something strange happenned.

The subs are now white but the video is now stretched into what looks like a 16:9 aspect ratio like a widescreen/letterbox picture. Kinda strange. There is probably a setting in the ifo that causes this.

On first impressions, it seems to be working and once I finish the re-rip and get the fixed ifo files, I will burn a sample disc and then move on to the Widescreen version.

Thanks for all the work that has gone into this project.

The fullscreen thing probably isn't working because the IFO that marioxb wrote specifies for the video to be stretched out to the 16x9 ratio.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

That is what I suspected. Once I get the fixed ifo files, I will look to try and amend the file to the Fullscreen size.

Success.

I downloaded Ifo Edit and compared the Muxman generated ifo files to the ifo files from the original download kit. Straight away I could see the references to 16:9 which I changed to 4:3 and the whole thing plays perfectly on my PC through PowerDVD.

Once I get the fixed ifo files to cure the time problem and to allow me to shrink it, I am confident that I can modify those new files to work on my 4:3 fullscreen version and finally burn a test DVD.

OK, I noticed that after you mentioned it, so I changed it as well. I now get 1 5.42 GB .m2v file... BUT when I attempt to play it, it shows up as being 39407 hours long!! I can't import this file into Muxman either...

Any ideas on how to fix that?

It's been so long since I messed with smartrippers settings, I forgot that I have mine set to fax file size 9999mb.

Yes the ifo's I provided are for 16x9. This can easily be changed with ifoedit.

jokabofe, really not sure. Try ripping again.

If anyone still needs any of the files, I can try to email them.

I'm glad everyone likes what I have done.

Got it working - Works great. The family was cracking up over the subtitles.
Could someone please repost the DVD cover (or PM me)? Thanks!

Sorry. I'm in the process of renewing my domain, so the link to the cover went dead. I just updated my post on the last page, and the cover should be up again.

Got the cover - thanks!
BTW Nice site - you have more figures than me, and your dioramas are well done!
As a side note - I sent you a PM for a chinese cover I found on the web that perhaps you could use.

Today, I was sent the fixed ifo files - many thanks for that and the subsequent offer - which cure the 10 hour long film error but, as I have done the conversion on the Fullscreen version, DVD Shrink will still not open the files to allow me to shrink down do fit a SL DVD.

Anyhow, A4 DVD Shrinker allowed me to shrink and burn to a disk but the encoding is hideous so I am still looking for an alternative fix.

On the other hand, compare that problem to how often I am going to watch a Fullscreen Ep 3 with the dodgy translation subs on my 42" widescreen plasma telly and what I have done is more than good enough.

The fun was in doing the thing, seeing if I could do it and proving that the kit worked on the Fullscreen version of the film.

Many thanks to marioxb for all his hard work and thanks for all the help and guidance from all others who have helped too.

If a fix or better shrink method is found, I will let everyone know.

Well, with a lot of help from the people here, my newb ass finally got it to work, and it was worth it

Those were some of the funniest captions I've ever seen. Thanks for taking the time to put this together, and thanks to everyone who helped out with directions.
