Info Wanted: seeing as the screenshot threads are locked....

…I have a question. Are all the screenshots resized to all the same resolution? If so I think it would be a good idea to leave them in their native res whenever possible as it would give people an idea of the best caps not just for picture quality but also for geometry. As an example I’ve attached a shot of the editdroid anh. As you can see it’s a pretty good cap qualitywise but it is squashed in the verticle axis and uncropped at the sides.

sorry my mistake I just noticed the resize button at the top of Zion's web page, so forget I ever asked.

Interesting that a lot of the letterboxed caps look squashed as well, I thought they would have been resized to roughly 720x306 (minus black bars).

NTSC pixels are slightly taller than they are wide, so when you display a screenshot at "native resolution" (maintaining the number of pixels) using a computer screen's square pixels, you get a slightly vertically squashed picture.

Displaying a PAL capture might display the opposite problem (but only when captured at 720x576 pixels - captures at 768x576 pixels will have square pixels anyway).

Well, you learn something everyday, now I think about it that makes sense! Is HD going to use square pixels? If so roll on HD and hopefully a standard set of resolutions for all.

Whaddya mean, "going to use"? How about "is using"? All HD resolutions are 16:9 square pixel formats. That's 1280x720, and 1920x1080.
