Info: the Galactic Trade Federation website

I’m not sure who maintains this beast (russss?), but it’s mighty nice.

Are there plans to integrate a screencap comparison, much like Moth3r’s page? I think it would be very useful for obvious reasons.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Is this the site that listed Deleted Magic saying extras: none?

Their information may not be entirely accurate there. =)

A slight oversight on my part there!!

Just for you, I will make it my next task to update "your" page...............

Up to now, I have been struggling just to list the new transfers that have been coming out over the summer.

As it is, the whole GTF thing is very much a work in progress and the DVD pages there now are only a part of what will be there in the future (I hope).

Once "The Dark One" completes his rise from the ashes, expect to see a very different site. The name indicates the purpose if you get the drift........

Until then, you will have to live with my "not entirely accurate" version, Watch this space!!

It is a beast for reasons mentioned above and thanks for the comments.

The GTF site certainly does have the potential to be a competent all-in-one source for basic DVD release info, hope it makes it there!

What I would like to see is a reference for the different laserdisc releases of the trilogy that exist.

There is already some good information at LDDB, blam1 and davisdvd, but it would be useful to have information specifically related to the suitabilty as a capture source - list of flaws/defects, overall picture quality, etc. Also what sort of price you could expect to pay on eBay!

Maybe something I might take on myself one day.

A quick update on the Galactic Trade Federation website...............

Due to technical issues, I have been unable to update the site for quite a while now and it is a bit out of date.

I have got around this by temporarily uploading all the files to my ISP webspace at this temporary address.

The first phase is to add all the latest releases from all the talented folk out there and once all titles are covered, I will be going back and getting rid of all the missing info currently shown as ??????????

Titles to add include work by Dark Jedi, Rikter, ADigitalMan, OCP, Daveytod, JD, Starkiller and countless others. I will also be listing a handfull of ***NUKED*** and pre-release titles simply as an aid to people who may have the earlier versions.

You will also spot links to pages of basic details of the Laser/VHS source of the transfers. This is very much a Work In Progress at this time but will soon list all the UK and US retail releases in all formats and possibly a TV broadcast section too.

Also check out The Starkiller's Guide to the Star Wars Mono Sound Mix which is also currently on my ISP webspace. If anyone knows of anything missing from there, please let me know.

Just a suggestion, it might be cool if you could make some sort of chart or table for newcomers to figure out which version is best for them.

Something like this:

I dont know...I'm not good at planning all of this type of stuff out....but it could be cool to get like a quick overview of all of the available sets.

I dunno...just a random idea http://67.18.37.16/2087/182/emo/icon_shrug.gif

Just a plug for the IRC channel, for those into discussing how to cross link all the info being created by people, stop by the irc channel: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=9&threadid=4497

In addition to http://galactictradefederation.com/, Zion's created a fantastic comparison webpage: http://aptirrelevance.com/otscreenshots/screenshots.php?shot=1 which is very slick. Then after those two sources, Rikter's FanDVD.doc is the place to find out about new releases.

Then if your looking to expand beyond SW Transfers, there's http://noneinc.com/Archive/FlimsiplastDatabase/fd_main.html which is a start to collect a list of SW media in any form. It came about because of a thread to collect all the SW Documentaries: http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=9&threadid=2506

anyway head over the OT.com IRC channel and talk about what's working and what's not.

Also, Jay has recently started a thread to discuss housing this type of information in the OT.com, head over to that thread:

Prillaman already has a chart that compares several of the features of the SW films on DVD.

Here's the LINK

Go check it out if you need to compare versions.

One additional thing. In the mono mix, there is an additional musical que to the moss aisley cantina scene that starts before the heros enter the bar. You can hear it when 3po says, come along R2.

Dan, I highly recommend you alter your email to "DDStokes at aol.com" or some such. You don't want a spam-bot to add your address to a spam list.

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
<span class=“Bold”>JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
<span class=“Bold”>Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.</span>

Thanks for noticing that. I have included it in the latest update.

After over a year of messing around and more setbacks than I wish to talk about, I am pleased to finally tell the world that the Galactic Trade Federation website is officially launched.

I still have a lot of gaps to fill in and a lot of projects still to add but I finally have it looking half decent.

I have a lot of troubles to see the site on my Mac:
With Safari, I only see the top menu. When I click on an option, there's a loading, but nothing is watchable.
With FireFox, it's pretty much the same thing, but I can't even see the options... Here how it looks:

But I'm not complaining, it's just for help. And thanks a lot for your work, your website has always been very helpful for me!

I had a similar problem with Firefox on PC. IE worked just fine, but Firefox cut off at the top of the options.

I'm on a Mac as well and have similar results to Kaal-Jhyy with Netscape. The odd thing about Netscape, is that the links pop out into a new window. Netscape cuts the link images in half, might want to increase the frame sizes. (things vary between mac and pc and browsers)

Looking through the coding, some of the <frameset> values you have in quotes and others you don't.

I find it sometimes helps to indent subset commands.
for instance:
<frameset rows="A,B">
_____<frame src A> (OT.com deleted the tab spacing, so i've replaced them with underscores)
_____<frame src B>
</frameset>

For mac users, GTF seems to only be viewable using IE (hadn't fired that thing up in literally years). No luck using Firefox, Safari, Camino, or Mozilla on my mac. I sure would like to view this on a modern browser . This is a great site. Thanks for the hard work, Russ.

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

If people find any other problems, have any idea's, thoughts or comments, please let me know.

Thanks again

Could you elaborate further. I am always looking for constructive comments..................

ie, Why is it soooo painful and what is the problem with the frames?????????

The point of the site is to list and simply reference all the available transfers and not to show how good/bad the transfers were. Therefore, the screenshot images are there only as a reference to help show people what versions they had or had seen for sale. There are people out there doing fantastic jobs with sites comparing high quality screenshots far better than I could ever do.

Experience has shown that 9 out of 10 people have either got or are looking to buy (from ebay) and the info on my site quickly tells them it is the Dr Gonzo set. They then go away never to be seen again!!!

I have just done a few minor updates to the Galactic Trade Federation site.

I am also after feedback and comments on extra content and different navigation. The link to a test page is on todays update on the homepage.

Once I know it all works OK and I have enough content, I will go live with the new content at the current site homepage, incorporating any feedback I get here.

Thanks in advance.

PS I am also looking for any good links to articles about the the official releases, particularly where changes or differences between releases or wide to fullscreen differences are discussed.
