It could be your provider or software.

Try another software package such as Forte Agent 2.0 and get all headers and see if they all show up. If they don't show up, it then points to your provider.

I have tried Grabit and newer versions of Agent and none match the simplicity of Agent 2.0 in my opinion.

I'm trying Agent out, but I can't tell if the prblems is isp or software coz I think the earlier rars are past retention now. There's only 36 and up available on FA. If someone'll upload the first rars again I'd appreciate it

I say the same thing!

Delicieuxz: I can repost this weekend, until then you could always try 2 free days at giganews, well i think it is 2 days.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and was wondering if a kind soul could post the Dark Jedi Faces trilogy that was captured from widescreen laserdisc to the newsgroup. Thanks for the help!

Thanks segaflip! I can't sign up for the 3 free days with gigaflip right now, even if I'd get the money back.

I would also recommend trying Newsleecher. I have found it to be a great program for downloading binaries and updating headers. If you can afford the cost, I would also recommend getting a Giganews account. With Newsleecher and a Giganews account, I've been able to get almost any posting that was of interest to me.

Cheers!

If someone uploads 1-6 I'll have enough with the pars to fll in the rest. Uploading them again should allow them to be available for me, I'm not sure why they aren't there now tho.

In Grabit you need to make sure that the red "page" icon is clicked. When you first install, it's not. (The help bubble is, "Push this button to show unmarked items that contain multiple articles which are not all present on the news server.") Also, I've had problems doing incrementals that miss content- this can be corrected with a full update.

Finally, if a par2 file has known missing parts (as opposed to bad parts only found when decoded), you have to remove the [Incomplete Grab] part of the filename that GrabIt puts in there, at least for QuickPar to recognize the par. You do not have to remove the [Incomplete Grab] for the actual content files.

Last time I tried Agent (free or trial of full) it didn't do multiple connections per server; does it now? GrabIt does do multiple connections. It isn't as slick as Newsleecher, but it is free.

Thanks segaflipI I laughed when I saw my nick on it, & I'm d-l it now.

JB522, you're right, I had to click the red icon for them to show.

Can't wait to watch this!

This may sounds silly, but I need 37 more blocks. Heh, can someone me help out one more time? I have all the pars, so anything from rar 7-10 is what I need.

Ok, I've got them all, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Is there any way for someone to repost the SL/DVD-5 versions of the A DigitalMan edits? I have Episode III, and am dying to see the others (especially the Darth Editous / ADigitalMan Hybrid Edition of Episode IV).

I know I am new to the forums (to posting anyway), and I may come across a bit greedy making my first post a request like this, but I hope to contribute to the community with an experimental (and possibly controversial) edit idea I have for ROTJ that I hope to work on during the summer once I learn how to use the tools. More on that later in a separate post.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it

There is an interesting looking posting of a Definitive Collection transfer in alt.binaries.dvd9

Does anyone have any more information on this set beyond what the nfo files say........

Not much gets past you, does it Russ...

Looks interesting. Why don't you post a message to the group asking "Eraser" to come and post details here? (I don't have that group on ntl).

Are you downloading it? Any chance of screenshots to show menus and overall video quality?

Not much!! This one is thanks to a "heads up" from our old pal The Dark One on a.b.starwars

The Dark One is already asking for more info. I will be throwing in my two pence worth too.

(I don't have that group on ntl).

Neither do I which is why I have the Astraweb account. I also have it because even though ntl are actually very, very good but when they fall down, they do it in style!!!!!

FWIW, it's cross-posted to a.b.dvd too, to which The Starkiller gave a heads-up a couple days ago.

I grabbed a few of the parts hoping to sneak a peak, but it seems the 7-zip format isn't as friendly as rar with respect to partial extractions. It seems to want all the parts present before it will extract anything, unlike unrar.
And while it may use some sort of checksumming internally, the 7-zip program doesn't seem to display any checksums the way unrar does when given the "list contents" option.
My first experience with 7-zip, but so far I'm underwhelmed.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

As promised, here are a few crude shots that I will keep up for a short while as I only have limited space at the moment. I agree that the 7-zip format may well be the future but it still needs work to make it user friendly.

Anyone here ever used or heard anything about BuzzardNews?

http://www.buzzardnews.com/

Prices are a little better for me as I don't need the 25 GB a month offered by Giganews.

Hi to all!!

I'm new to this forum - brialliant website by the way!

I'm trying to get hold of a widescreen PAL laserdisc rip of the OT in english, from what I've read on here, the one to watch is Moth3r's version.
I've searched all the major torrent sites to no avail and was hoping that some kind soul might be nice enough to post it on a.b.sw.
I will post a request on a.b.sw when I get home.

Watched "Building Empire" and was stunned at the quality and fantastic content. If a fan can do this - why can't Lucas Film?

Hi trikki !

There's a not-so-major torrent site you might like to check out -- www.myspleen.net
You must register, but there are many Star Wars goodies there including Moth3r's OOT

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Reposting my PAL widescreen ANH transfer at the moment, look for "Grinder's Star Wars Original Trilogy - Episode IV".

That's no moon. It's a LaserDisc.

Thanx for the fast reply's!

I am interested in getting a laserisc player and a copy of the OT on laserdisc, does anyone know if there is a THX remastered widescreen CAV PAL boxset?
I've been watching ebay but EVERYTHING is NTSC, single discs or in french.
Sorry if this is a little off topic.
Author
Time
Yes, there are OT THX CAV PAL discs. But none are completely in English. The closest is the French 'Coffret Trilogie' box set, which has English audio and French subs in the lower black bar.
