Star Wars Episode I: Cloak Of Deception (Released) — Page 68

I’m impartial to it. His voiceover wasn’t there in previous versions, if I recall correctly. This was actually added in relatively recently to explain why everybody is on the surface instead of underwater. But with the droid commander scene being put back in with him talking about them investigating the underwater villages, I think Jar Jar’s voiceover could actually be removed for the maximal edition.

Finally got a chance to watch the Maximalist cut. Fantastic! I always felt TPM just needed a bit of pruning and this to me found the perfect balance to bring out the best in the film. Excellent work.

There is one lingering thing though. Anakin’s sudden unexplained hopping into the Naboo fighter. I know that the audience is supposed to assume he’s decided to take action on his own here but I don’t think it quite comes across like it should. I was wondering if it were possible to insert a quick “Come on Artoo!” as he starts running toward the fighter. It could provide that small expositional push the scene needs to convey his actions.

That said though, thank you for another wonderful edit!

My only quibble with the current version is that I think the music transition from the flag parade to Anakin and his mom is still too abrupt. For someone familiar with the music, it does seem to cut off mid-theme. Ideally the flag parade music cue be allowed to finish at a reduced volume behind the next scene, similar to how The Phantom Edit approached it.

Tobar, it’s a good idea. I certainly don’t wish to revise things just for that but I’ll keep it in mind in case I am compelled to anyway. Glad you liked it overall, and if that’s the only thing that felt imperfect, we done good.

Octorox, the current version has addressed this. Are you sure you’re looking at the most recent version?

I never had the nerve to make the final cut.

Hi Hal, I thought I was looking at the latest version but I may not be. I’ll make sure I have the latest copy.

EDIT: I took another listen and it’s definitely improved. The music does continue into the next scene, but there is still a noticeable truncation of the theme in my opinion in a way that feels awkward, probably due to my familiarity with the original music cue. I’ll see if I can mock something up.

I still have the young Annie voice clone so this is something I can create. I’ll look into it.

Thank you very much Hal for the work you did on this. I actually enjoyed it for the first time and so did my twin daughters. Regards.

At first I was a little skeptical of the cuts, but I ended up enjoying this film a lot in this fan edition. 😃

Hi, I cannot believe how late I am to this party 😦

YouTube —> Reddit —> HERE

After coming here from checking out little fan films on YouTube and reading through a lot of this thread, just wanted to shout out some appreciation for all you Fan Editors out there. Though I haven’t seen anything yet, I’m looking forward to (in 7 days or so) being able to check this stuff out.

Keep up the great work!

I just remembered that I never followed through on giving a line for this great idea. So here it is, along with another line in a location that seemingly had a spoken line removed in Hal’s edit.

Not sure if it’s worth another re-release, though. Did we have any other ideas?

Yeah, you’re right. I’ve made some new files. As always, audio levels might not be perfect, but I’m just testing if it fits into the context of the scene 😃

Eh, not quite yet. It almost needs to be like an excited yell for the lines. That hanger is probably loud as hell haha

Yeah that’s part of the issue is that unless you have source audio of the person yelling it’s very hard to get the AI to do that. From what I recall, Anakin doesn’t do that too much in this movie.

I thought you just meant that he should sound more excited, not necessarily like he’s yelling. I’ll see if both are possible but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

I’m not sure if that would help. If anything, the deliveries that it’s giving me are very authentic to how Jake Lloyd played the character. So if it seems a little awkward, you can just draw it all up to child acting 😉

Regardless, I got a version of the first line that has his voice raised a bit so it seems like he’s trying to speak over the noise. The second line really doesn’t need to be like this since he’s already in the cockpit and R2 can hear him just fine. His “Yeah!” from the original movie was already pretty subdued, too.

Excited to check out these awesome projects! Hopefully the community can help me out when my 7 day trial period ends LoL :]

I’m very happy with the current state of the prequel edits and don’t plan to update them further. Never say never, but nothing stands out to compel me.

The only thing I have actual plans/intentions for is another go at the OT after next year’s OOT release and anything else.

I never had the nerve to make the final cut.
