Can you not afford the BD sets or a drive?

It’s not that. I do have the Blu-Ray sets on my shelf, but it’s impossible to rip them.

Why? Can’t MakeMKV just take 'em out? I’m just curious what the issue is.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

Here is the list of episodes I’ll be tackling.

Where No Man Has Gone Before
The Naked Time
Balance Of Terror
Arena
The Alternative Factor (One of the worst episodes of Star Trek TOS and the worst of the first season)
For The World Is Hollow And I Have Touched The Sky

I think Galileo 7 is the worst of the first season.

I have the Blu-rays and a drive. I would love to participate in this project.

MAJOR UPDATE: I am able to move forward with this project!

So wait, which episodes are the ones with downmixed mono tracks?

I have a problem. The final Blu-Ray disc of Season 3 I have is scratched. Was wanting to use the unaired pilot at the main video source for the Where No Man Has Gone Before reconstruction.

As far as I know, Balance Of Terror and The Alternative Factor. There might have been a couple of others.

If anybody has the original non-remastered DVDs, please let me know. I think I might need rips of those to commence my project. Need those for exact shots and the audio mixes. Balance Of Terror will be the first of the selected episodes to patch up. And I think it might be the easiest of them all. Because the only thing that needed fixing is the main title audio, where I take the main title theme from The Corbomite Maneuver and replace the downmixed main title audio with it.

Buggered if I know. I should’ve been able to hear the photon torpedoes firing, but - nothing! It’s only on the 7.1! There’s gotta be some sort of conspiracy going on.

I swore those torpedo sounds were never present in the original broadcast. Correct me if I am mistaken. Because I don’t have a VHS copy of Balance Of Terror.

Would the LaserDisc audio be useful for fixing the episodes with down-mixed 7.1?

LDDB says that the releases that included Balance of Terror had only an analog mono track, so I’m assuming most if not all of the episodes would also have only analog tracks. I’m not extremely knowledgeable about audio formats, so would that make it lossy, or in other terms, a bad source?

Worth a try.

As we speak, I just patched up the Stereo track for Balance Of Terror. That was relatively easy to do.

Should have been clear about this years ago because I was a teen but I couldn’t be able to afford for a portable Blu-Ray player at the time. But I do have one now.

Has anyone down a project that did use the Mono from VHS, laserdisc or other sources?

I had tracked down the original DVD only to see it was a bad new 5.1 mix.

The single volume episode sets. They weren’t by season.

I think the first DVD came out in 1999.

Okay, make that two discs. Because Season 1 Disc 3 is scratched. I can’t obtain The Conscience Of The King (unaltered aka Angle 2) or both cuts of Menagerie Part 1.

Alright…as we speak, I have two episodes ready. Balance Of Terror and Arena. PM me for link!

If there is anyone on here who is experienced with using film restoration and AviSynth, feel free to let me know. I was wanting to reach out to someone who knows how to do film restoration and frame-by-frame clean up automatically and manually.

Okay, I did the work on patching up The Naked Time.

-Recolored the entire teaser portion. Potential hybrid of the 2004 DVD and 2009 Blu-Ray releases, the former which this versions leans a little more toward.
-Replaced the “Also Starring Leonard Nimoy As Spock” with “Leonard Nimoy As Spock” using the Mudd’s Women Blu-Ray original.
-Replaced, enhanced, and recolored the visual effects glitch of Psi 2000 using the 2004 DVD version.
-Fixed the bedding and scenery color during Tormolen’s surgery scenes.
-Recolored 3/4ths of Act II, all of Act III, and Act IV to match with the rest of the episode. The episode had consistent colors until it got to after the Tormolen’s surgery scene.

And I used Audacity to sync the 2004 5.1 DVD track and patch up the 2.0 track (with the proper title audio).
