Honestly, I think the full scale battle droid props mesh well with their CGI counterparts. Lucas should have done something similar with the clone troopers by having actors portray them in close ups shots. Yes, I know that as clones they all have to be the same size but you can easily work around that in close up shots, like they way Peter Jacksson made the actors for the fairly-short-in-statuer hobbits appear smaller than the actors actually were.

Yeah, I think you’re spot on re that… Lucas could have hired stand-ins / actors / extras etc in a similar range of height (6ft - 6ft 3in) and then used perspective camera ‘tricks’ long used in film for any group shots of Clone Troopers for close-ups / mid-range shots etc to give the impresion they awere all the same height - no additional CGI work required. Though it seems that wasn’t what Lucas was going for - or wanted to compromise on - as John Knoll and the already overworked / overstretched VFX team found out.

What exactly is the point of trying to catalog every single movie mistake in this trilogy?

This isn’t a ‘movie mistake’ thread at all - as mentioned previously in the thread…

Are you sure? What is a “poor-quality VFX shot” if not a movie mistake? Why include movie mistakes like Qui-Gon going grey or the lamp cable being visible, which have nothing to do with CGI?

Ah - I hadn’t noticed your latest edit to the content in your post.

Didn’t your original post read something along the lines of “I misread something - and I withdraw my previous comment”? I’m sure it read something akin to that - oh well, nvm.

Yeah, that one (What was #. 57) of the 59 listed so far doesn’t fit with the CGI-CGI-affected shots & scenes in the rest of this thread. Though it does state exactly that…

Yet more credit and kudos to Phase3 again for noticing this in TPM…

Edit: This is more of a QC issue than a CGI/CGI-affected issue per-se; not checking the changed-end results before release. I came across it amongst a batch of 4/5 other CGI-related content and it got mistakenly included in here (the effects of late-night posting after a long day and a couple of glasses… I really should know better by now - whoops!) It has now been removed from the list of CGI-issues. 👍

^ I’ll not edit it out or remove it, instead just made a quick note in that post it really doesn’t belong in this thread and why.

And yes, in the context of your original issue/query… I am sure this isn’t a ‘movie mistake’ thread. If you read the OP of the thread you’ll see why. If you still don’t think that is the case - then I don’t know what to tell you - other than read my previous reply to your question, here: link.

Though thanks for the confirmation of the issue with what was #. 57 - it is much appreciated.
