It is good to see Tarkin starring in other roles.

I have some poor copies of both a Turkish Star Wars (was there more than one?) and Turkish Star Trek...I haven't watched them in years, but I can clearly recall that the Turkish Star Trek is far more disturbing. (it reminds me of a serious STL Star Trek skit).

On a side note, I also have a what I think is a Mexican Batman and Robin TV Movie....whoever played the Joker in that had some serious issues.

I'll have to dig this stuff out again...

>>Don't shoot me here, but have you checked the existing bonus DVD material for the missing segments with correct Lightsabers, cut segments and whatnot?....It sure would be an improvement over trying to match LD to DVD, if you're going that route.

Moth3r's laserdisc transfers are quite good, so looking for a few extra frames of footage from some documentary rarely makes any difference ... but I do always look.

As far as lightsabers go, I never go back to laserdisc for that, I use chromakey and fix them myself, from the DVD versions.

>>Also, have you noticed a significant amount of cut material from the Jedi Ghost scene?, it seems shorter to me....I could be wrong here but I remember Luke "winking" at the Ghosts as he turns away...

In the special edition, the shot of Luke looking at the ghosts and then being called away by Leia, waving to them as he walks away, is split up into two shots, cutting out some of Luke's reaction and generally turning the whole thing into a choppy mess.

So yes, that's what you're remembering.

I tried to install new memory on my G4, and it crippled and destroyed my system.

I have an entire feature film on there which never went to final cut.

I had a real scare today, but with the help of Disk Warrior I think, it's back to normal now.

Never use 3rd party memory on a Mac, kids.

I'll buy from Apple.

Fuck this.

Yeah, macs are finicky when it comes to ram (which is a good thing, really... they're engineered with tighter ram tolerances than most wintel boxes). I've always bought my ram from ramjet.com. They guarantee that their ram is fully compatable with all macs' current firmware. Good prices and excellent service. Never had a problem and I've bought ram for half a dozen macs from them. I've also heard good things about crucial.com.

And as you found out, DiskWarrior is an absolute savior. You don't need to buy ram from Apple. They'll ream you. Go with ramjet.com.

Merry Christmas!

I'm taking your word on it, Movealong. =) Just bought a whole heck of a lot of RAM from ramjet.

The ram I bought before was from macramdirect.com.

Thanks for the advice.

Incidentally, if anyone is an Entertainment Weekly subscriber, which I'm not, Deleted Magic WAS being considered for a little blurb on the hot list, so if anyone spots that, please post.

Hey I wouldn't know if this is the best place to post this, but there isn't a thread for your possible maybe hypothetical classic edition of Return of the Jedi.

I'm assuming it'll be anamorphic widescreen (if--in fact--you decide to 'complete' your classic trilogy of editing achievement), so are the subtitles for Jabba the Hutt going to be burned in on the image instead of under it like 'letterbox' versions or instead of under it and all...digital...unburned looking like on some anamorphic versions?

I included "This is it!" as I like the line, he moves his lips to say it onscreen, and it was in the 70mm. Watch it for yourself.

I'm actually almost finished with Jedi Classic. I still have to do the sound, and menus and etc. I'll start its own thread and discuss it in more detail soon. I will say that if your expectations were set high by the previous Classic Editions, this one will impress you even more.

As far as Jabba goes, the subtitles will be done as subtitles. I haven't done them yet.

In fact, that was a big problem, because the burned-in subtitles on the laserdisc, when I removed them, made one shot of Jabba look not as good as I'd have liked. It's my least favorite shot in the edit. But 95% of the work, I'm quite pleased with. Most of it is amazingly seamless, and it's certainly a much better version of the film.

What laserdisc? If you mean my DVD transfer, then those subtitles were hard-encoded as the final step in my post-processing script. I still have a lossless AVI of the Jabba scenes without subtitles if you need me to encode anything in particular.

(The actual laserdisc burnt-in French subtitles were in the lower black bar which was cropped out.)

Sorry about the blank post.
OK, I was playing about this today and I stumbled upon the sort-of "easter egg" of the emperor scene with the Ian McDiarmid dialouge edited to make it follow the original lines, and not the goofy 2004 DVD McDiarmid lines. This was a great addition! I wish I had noticed that one before. Good job, Ocpmovie!

Ooh!

Moth3r, it would be VERY helpful if you would email me or post a file of your subtitle-less version of the shot where Jabba says "At last we have the mighty Chewbacca." It's a lengthy static wide shot with Boussh on the far right, and Threepio stumbling in to appear on the near right.

Glad you liked!

The main problem with the McDiarmid audio is that it's ... delivered ... slooooowly.

I had to speed it up an incredible amount to make it work the way it should. Sometimes it became choppy - An interesting challenge. It could be done better in Protools, or with Lucasfilm's own equipment. =)

I thought that that easter egg was pretty easy to find -- I didn't try to hide it.

There are many more easter eggs on Jedi, and they're all much more hidden.

Yours has one more chapter than his (but the same total frame count).
Your Reville/McDiarmid dialogue doesn't play correctly from the Easter egg menu -- it stops before the Emperor starts talking.
segaflip's version plays the entire scene from the Easter egg menu.
Your's appears to be older than his (according to the file timestamps) although I think you're both in the same time zone (according to your usenet headers).
I wonder if yours is a pre-production prototype? I hope you got a price break.

Whoever torrents this probably ought to first make sure he's got the finished version and not a work-in-progress.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Come to think of it, there MIGHT have been a version which slipped out there, just 1 or 2 copies, which had an error in the emperor easter egg. I'd forgotten about that.

It's certainly a VERY minor error. The world can live without one easter egg!

It still exists on the disc either way, you can access it by changing audio tracks while watching that scene.

Damn. I've got the same doesn't-play-the-Emperor troubles with my copy. Must be MoveAlong's version, too. That was a large download -- not too fun to find out it's busticated.

There I did it. I stooped down to begging like Homer Simpson. lol

In all seriousness can't wait to get a copy of this and of Jedi. SW was a great transfer.

The problem was a misplaced chapter marker, so that when you click to watch the Emperor scene alone, you only get the first bit of it.

If anyone has this copy of Empire, and wants to see the Ian McDiarmid version of the Emperor scene, just switch audio tracks when watching your copy of Empire Classic. You can watch the entire film with the Ian McDiarmid voice instead of Clive Revill - it's on an alternate audio track.

Hopefully not too hidden so I can't find them.

You did a very good job on the Ian McDiarmid dialouge!
