Convert DVD Vob files to Mpg2 ?

What software could I use to convert vob files to mpeg2 files and use them in Adobe Premiere Pro ? I can't find a good answer on doom9.org or videohelp.com

I want to edit some scenes of a film with Premiere Pro using a DVD as video source.

I planned to buy Cinematize software but it is a little expensive

Thanks

The elegant way is to create a D2V project with DGIndex. A more simplistic way would be to use DVDDecrypter in IFO mode and rip one big M2V file onto your hard drive.

I don't know much about Premiere, so I don't know what it will read.

If I'm understanding the question correctly, then one of the simplest ways to convert is to demux the streams using your ripper program. Womble will let you then re-assemble the desired audio and video stream into a mpeg file without re-encoding.

DVD-Lab Pro has a wonderful demuxing tool. Drag the first VOB file in the sequence into the assets window and it'll split all of the remaining vobs into single, elementary streams. i.e. you'll get your video stream and each of your audio streams. Then use Womble to re-assemble the streams you want.

Don't forget that subtitles will be lost when you do this (assuming they aren't "burned in").

Is Womble free?

Also what I did is I used dvd decrypter in IFO mode, and then when the respective VOB files were written to disc, i just simply renamed them to MPG and that seemed to work.

Anyone else tell me if this was a bad idea or not?
