I just made my account, as an appreciator of fan edits and fan of cinema, I’d love to see your copy. Why choose to gatekeep something to a website I hadn’t heard of until now but went out of my way to make an account for?

It isn’t gatekeeping - nor is it a scumbag move.
Some project creators choose to make their projects available to others who make a contribution to the community here (whether that is helping out around the place; answering queries, discussing projects, talking about the OT, Star Wars, film, tv, music, media, or life in general… or members who leave thanks, feedback, or reviews for projects). It is completely up to them.
It isn’t difficult to become a part of the community here - just a little effort with joining in on the discussions.
