Star Wars Episode I: Cloak Of Deception (Released) — Page 63

My head canon is that Jedi/Sith are moving much faster than what viewers actually see, it’s just that for the purposes of a movie you’d rather not watch a blur of blue, green, and red lights.

Come to think of it, this is literally the case for Duel of the Fates. They had to slow down the footage they recorded for the movie so it looked more “natural” or something.

Does anyone have a link for this they could share?
Thanks!

All right, having thought about it a bit more, here’s what I imagine for the ‘alternate’ set of edits as companions to my main edits.

  • Original film titles, same crawls otherwise as main edits (ideally, if possible)

  • Not sure whether to reinstate midichlorians! Current canon projects have seemed to dodge explicit mention of them, and even if one needed them for its story they would be probably be introduced there just fine

TPM:

  • Reinstate the trip underwater to Otah Gungah and a few scenes that come with it which were only removed due to depending on it

  • Reinstate Anakin being stated to be too old to be trained

AOTC:

  • Reinstate Yoda with a lightsaber

ROTS:

  • Existing alternate stuff about having Padme die would be part of this

  • Reinstate youngling murder scene and a few references to it

  • Reinstate Yoda vs Sidious and the explicit plan of Yoda and Obi-Wan to assassinate the two Sith (using the AI ‘Your mother once thought as you do’ line in ROTJ will help here)

In order to avoid having THREE versions of Episode III on offer (current/main version, alternate version, alternate stuff described above but Padme still lives on Alderaan), I could simply reinstate the youngling stuff into the main version as an update and have the fully alternate version in which Padme dies and Yoda fights Sidious.

Or, we could really just legitimately offer three cuts of Episode III to fit with anyone’s taste on these points:

  • Padme lives, Yoda does not fight Sidious
  • Padme dies, Yoda fights Sidious
  • Padme lives, Yoda fights Sidious

All three would feature youngling murder, for the reason that a major canon project closely tied to the Skywalker Saga (The Kenobi show) makes central use of this story point.

Thoughts? Outrage?

What are your thoughts on reinstating Padme helping start the Rebellion into ROTS? I know her scenes can be pacing killers but I think adding back the deleted scenes help sew the seeds of the plot lines that are expanded on in Andor and also makes her feel less like a fridged woman and more like her proactive Clone Wars counterpart.

They’ve already been part of my Ep3 edit so we’re good there.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

That’s already in the edit. Go to page 1 and read the changelist 😃

The Star Wars Saga:
I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX | Rogue One · Solo
What was first just a dream has become a frightening reality…

I include some cover artwork with the edits.

Will you use Jar Jar Bricks dialogue in a version 9.0 release?

I believe Hal was eyeing a series of alternative cuts of the prequel trilogy for the next release that reinstates the Gungan city, among other things.

To keep things involving the effort to revise the prequel trilogy edits one more time and include an alternate set of them to be more ‘maximalist’ and retain the original titles mostly within this one thread, I wanted to ask:

Are there any higher quality sources for the deleted scenes? Currently I have AI upscales that are a few years old. Nothing wrong with them, but I don’t know if there is anything better out there.

Also, I could still use an AI line to replace 3PO’s line in ROTS while taking off for Mustafar, “I think I’m beginning to get the hang of this flying business, hmm.”

Everything else I think I can get through myself, at a snail’s pace.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I slightly color corrected the probe scene further in my edit to match the surrounding footage but I’m not aware of a better source.

If you wanna try a different way to fix the goofy Threepio line, you can actually retime the whole scene to make it feel like Padme rushed off to Mustafar, which allows you to cut the line entirely: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14-Rc2iWT4QsNdRuAMAW0qER5ke_28Uuw/view?usp=drive_link

That’d work if nothing else.

If it means anything. I can’t even tell what was changed, Seems normal to me? So congrats it works.

I think that would probably work the best. Although it does feel like there is a missing 3PO line as they go up the ramp? Or is that how the original movie goes? I can’t remember.

His “Oh dear” could be shifted back a little bit to be at the same time that he starts flailing his arms around and I think it would feel more organic.

I now own the prelude novels these edits take their titles from.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

That’s the original. It’s a little awkward, but in fairness it matches his lines-to-arm-flailing-ratio in A New Hope, lol!

I cut the shot of Obi-Wan hiding in Harry Potter’s closet, and massively trimmed the two-shot of Padme and Threepio right before take off to get rid of the weird line that Hal was referring to. The precise way that I trimmed it hides the cut in the music track, so you don’t feel like anything is missing.

Cool to see how much was cut without it being noticeable to a non-prequel watcher. Great work man.
