Inspired by JeromeTheEditor, I thought I’d give this a shot too.
Here is my version of the speed force run removed. Pretty simple edit, I removed Qui-Gon moving to a defensive position after Obi-Wan sees the destroyers, so it appears they are fleeing all along. And Obi-Wan moves to the right, so I mirrored the shot of them going into the ventilation shaft so that it is also to the right.

OMG that’s perfect. only thing that’ll make it better is to change the end of the hallway to match the other end of the hall, which i can try to do. thanks for this!!!

Thanks! Yeah, it happens so fast I wasn’t too worried about the hallway looking a little different, but if you can fix that, it will truly be perfect.

I like it, but it does seem to move just a bit too quickly. What would it look like with Qui-Gon’s shot added back in? Or, at least a portion of it?

I don’t think it works as well because Obi-Wan moves to the right, then Qui-Gon moves to the left, then they are together going into the vent. The other way, the way I had it before, Obi-Wan sees the destroyers and flees to the right, then they go to the vent on the right, all in in one movement.

Well, you already mirrored the shot of them going into the vent. Why not mirror the shot of Qui-Gon? Or mirror Obi-Wan’s shot and leave them going into the vent the same?

A couple different ways to play it.

Yeah, I thought of that, tried that, but mirroring Obi-Wan puts his braid on the wrong side and mirroring Qui-Gon makes the circle he’s cutting in the door backwards.

Ah, fair enough.

Personally, I don’t think Qui-Gon is moving to the left so much as he is just backing up from the position he was originally in. I think it’s just the camera angle that’s making it appear that way.

Would it work better if they fired instead of just idly chasing them? Staying on the first shot of them aiming might work. As for the forcefields, I can add those to the adjacent shots.

I think your original version is my favorite mikebailey15. To me it doesn’t feel necessary to have every retreat due to blaster fire. Watching this version it looks like Obi-Wan clearly sees the destroyers coming, and then they try and leave fast enough before they can put up shields and start firing. Superior to the force run in the movie.

Also question for anyone that knows; What’s the best lossless way to incorporate this in to Hals version? Mostly looking for a program and exact render settings.

Hey everyone, new color correction comp:
This has to be the worst color grading in the film. The Tatooine scenes are horrible. Skin tones blend into the background, purple is everywhere it shouldn’t be, desaturated skies, and waxy skin make the shot look artificial. For many shots, I had to strip out color and rebuild from scratch to restore the original tones. Finally got rid of the purple (it took ages)—the key was restoring the original colors rather than just desaturating them. Here’s a small example:

some tweaks are still needed. Let me know your thoughts.

Looks great!

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Since I had put out an alternate version of my ROTS edit, I think it would be prudent, while I’m still able to, to put out a more thorough alternate edit of all three of the prequels to comport with wider Star Wars canon. These three ought to play nicely with just about everything else out there. I’d still consider the main edits as the ‘recommended’ versions, though.

Here’s what I anticipate doing for each:

TPM:

Underwater trip, and Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon apology scene later

Midichlorians, blood test

Mention of Anakin being too old to be trained

AOTC:

Younglings scene (to fit with ROTS having younglings)

Boba Fett being stated to be a clone

Darth Tyrannus name

Yoda using saber, and line foreshadowing it during chase scene on Coruscant

ROTS (other than what is already done for existing alternate version):

Younglings scene and references to it

Yoda vs Sidious duel

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Oh dayum this is so incredibly hype. I’m definitely going to use the first two!

I think all of these are perfect additions. Even further… thoughts on having the crawls using the original titles to separate them from your main edits?

EDIT: Still keeping the updated crawls, just restoring the original titles 😉

I agree with DZ that might be a good idea. Although I don’t know if whoever rendered those out for you is still around.

I think it was SirRidley, but I don’t recall seeing them around here in a while.
