Help with compressing an mpeg2...

Does anyone know the best way to compress an mpeg2 file (around 56mb) to a more friendly size for sharing over the internet, without losing too much picture and sound quality?

Personally I'd use XviD to compress the video, MP3 for the audio, and make an AVI.

However there are countless ways to achieve what you are asking, and no one way could be considered "best".
