Here’s an idea I had for an edit where communications between the X Wings and the rebel base are distorted and low quality, whereas communications between each of the X wings is much clearer. This is due to the rebel base being on the opposite side of the gas giant Yavin at the moment.

I mean, I like it, it balances the iconic sounds of chatter static with that fact that in every other film there is no such loss of communications, even across systems. That said it could be down to te empire jaming them? Idk it didn’t sound bad imo anyways.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
In the original film, as the X-Wings are approaching the Death Star, Red Leader states “we’re passing through the magnetic field”, which is when the audio distortion starts to happen.
Prior to them nearing the Death Star, there was no distortion in their ship-to-ship radio communication.
If you remove that distortion, it makes that part of the dialogue useless; will you be removing that dialogue in your edit?

The magnetic field, IMHO, is some kind of shielding (ray shielding? no one knows.). DSII’s only shield was projected from Endor.

Another reason why I suggested the idea is because the audio distortion is inconsistent sometimes to the point where it’s distracting. It’s nothing too major though

This is awesome! Really seamless stuff. Blows my mind that this wasn’t one of the first things added for the original Special Editions of ANH.
It’s good, but a little too fast of a line delivery for my liking (compared to the original).
