STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION — Page 494

Besides the few microscopic errors that some people with too much depth perception have found, I just see a beauty that without Ady’s incredible work would be lost. I’m an old schooler that can watch the Originals with all “Magic made in a Warehouse” FX and still love every second of it. What I see with Adywan’s versions is like he was able to go back to 1976 and work side by side with the ILMers and add his contributions to the film, with George standing back giving a big thumbs up! That is what makes these versions so special to me, they don’t take me away from the original magic, like most of the Special Edition FX did. Thank you, Maestro!

Is it just me or are Adywan’s recent gifs gone? I went to show a friend one of the gifs today and they’re not loading.

Edit: They’re not loading on swrevisited.com either.

I’ve just checked and they are working for me here and on the wordpress site

Weird. They worked for me when you first posted them, but now they are not loading on Chrome or Firefox on my desktop, even in incognito mode. I tried on my phone too on the Samsung browser, which I never use, just to make sure I didn’t have any cookies or cache problems, and they are not loading there either.

Edit: They’re working now, but loading at 6 KB/s. Looks like it’s an issue with postimage, probably temporary.

Hey Ady, I know there was a lot of discussion a while back around using clever edits or AI audio to tweak certain Vader lines in the Revisited projects (changing “Obi-Wan once thought as you do” to “Your mother once thought as you do” in ROTJ, among other changes), but all of those attempts sounded a little unnatural to some degree. I just came across this voiceover artist whose Vader dubs are the best I’ve ever heard, he absolutely nails the OT-era JEJ voice.

Here is his channel:

He openly offers his contact details for using his voice in production in his video descriptions, might be useful for any dialogue edits you’re trying to make in ANH or ROTJ Revisited.

The whole “starboard engine” correction is one of my favorite touches, alongside those recolored TIE’s! How painful was it to mask them off to recolor them within the composition?

Would it really have been so hard for Lucasfilm to have simply flipped the shot so that the port engine was shot instead, like Adywan did?

I noticed something and just curious if was intended or not:

The green and blue flashy lights on the left-hand side of Red Leader’s dash, at 51sec and 1min2sec, appear normal for the edit. But then, at 1min15sec and 1min22sec, those same lights are suddenly devoid of color. The red and yellow lights appear untouched, though. Anyone else see this too? If intentional, I must be missing the reason why 😄

My mistake. It was an error from the grading stage. I had a mask that should have been disabled in those shots that was accidently active, which removed the colour. I’ve fixed the shots now

One thing that has always bothered me, which i have never seen anyone mention before, is this shot during Red Leaders trench run. The first X-wing to be destroyed by the TIES. Problem is, the lasers aren’t coming from the TIEs, but from the turbo lasers down the trench. But the trench lasers stopped firing as soon as the Ties were about to enter the trench. So it looks like, with the effects being in their final stage, that originally one of the x-wing was to destroyed during the beginning of the run by the turret lasers before the TIEs appeared and it was changed late in the edit. So i removed the lasers from this shot.

I noticed and that too is one of my favorite fixes 😉 Other great mentions are seeing the correct number of X-Wings in a shot as well as proper backgrounds behind pilots, especially, as little as it might be, the trench now appearing behind Red Leader as he says “This is it”. And I love the choice to have Vader make all the kill shots in the trench - it just makes sense.

As always, thank you Ady for sharing this update with us! Hoping you had a great Christmas and now soon to be New Years 😄

I was reading the “Early Installment Weirdness” section on TV Tropes in regards to Star Wars, and it mentioned this one part:

The opening crawl of ANH says that the Rebels have “scored their first victory over the Empire”. Both Legends and the new canon would go on to depict a lot more than one victory occurring prior to A New Hope. Furthermore, calling the Battle of Scarif a victory on the Rebel’s part is a pretty big stretch, since, other than recovering the Death Star plans, they pretty much got their butts kicked, and most of the Rebels present died.

Since I know Rogue One is canon in your edit, with the Death Star still being over Scarif in the first act, and you having the old Death Star graphics shown in Rogue One going through a software update into the Attack of the Clones graphics, is it even worth changing that part of the crawl?

I hope you don’t mind this one other request. I know these are once again examples of “Early Installment Weirdness,” since they couldn’t decide what terms to use yet, but since you were able to make Luke say “Steady, Rogue 3” instead of “Rogue 2” in TESB:R, do you think you could also make it so that Luke doesn’t call the R5 Astromech droid that blew up an “R2 Unit,” or use the term “robots” later on?

I personally like the idea of “fixing” those types of things. I even tried the “robots” one you mentioned using voice cloning:

I don’t know if this particular fix is quite up to snuff for Adywan, which I totally understand.
I mean, with my example, the voice is trained on Luke from ESB and ROTJ. Not ANH. So it doesn’t sound right.
I suppose you could do that with ALL his dialogue for consistency 😉

Yeah, ideally you want to have it trained on about 30 seconds of the dialogue immediately around what you want to replace. The Vader line I posted on Ady’s Episode 6 thread is just that.
