SW fan since 1977. I also used to hang out at this site back when ADYwan was working on the first A New Hope release. I left the site because of the non-stop prequel hate. Yes, I love the prequels too. (Or should I lie about that here?) I saw a trailer for Return of the Jedi Renewed and found my way back here. Now I have years of edits to check out.

Howdeedoo!

FlashSWT here, aka Flash from SWT forums. I’ve been a member at the SWT forums for some time now, and did the English Reconstruction Regraded version of The Phantom Menace 35mm theatrical Czech scan. I don’t know why it took me so long to make an account here. It seems that for most people it’s the other way around, and they began here first.

Anyway, already really enjoying my time here and look forward to checking out some non-SW preservations for a change.

That just about wraps it up, folks! And away I goooooooooo…!

Super happy to be here. Your preservation work is priceless specially since nobody else is doing it and I hope I can give a little bit of support in my own way.

Hello, Ive always had small problems watching the original trilogy, like the engine thrusters on one xwing not being lit while they were flying towards the death star among other nitpicks. After watching a couple fan edits and seeing the dedication people have into preserving these movies makes me excited to see more of these projects in the future!

Hi, I’ve recently come back to the OT. I found the TN1 initial releases of SW and ESB some years ago, and came looking for more. I’m currently working my way through Harmy’s DEED versions, and I’m really excited to get into everything else. Thanks to all who’ve worked on these releases and maintain this website.
May the force be with you,
John

Hello there!

I was late night researching 35mm scanning, and went down a Disney themed rabbit hole on Internet Archive instead!

I came across Toy Story, and a comparison between 4K and 35mm, and really wished that there was a release that didn’t either butcher the initial presentation of the film (custom Pixar Disney castle - fade into film), nor a foggy filter that many 4K releases seem to have. I then searched and came across this site, and would really like to support the restoration project! 😃

For many years, I’d dream about obtaining idents in abandoned Odeon cinemas, and one day last year, the stars aligned - I managed to find 2 reels of Odeon idents on a well known auction site, and immediately snapped them up. I cried in disbelief and joy. One of my wishes to accomplish before I leave this Earth, is to be able to digitise and watch these reels, along with many other adverts that I’ve collected over the last 10 years.

Take care, and see you on the forums!

Hello all. My name is David and the first movie I ever saw in the theater was Return of the Jedi when I was just a toddler. I am here to learn how to download these editions of the origin al films and chat with like minded fans.

Hi! I was 6 when Star Wars premiered in 1977 and have been a life-long fan ever since. I lived in Denver when the triple-bill happened and my father pulled me out of school to stand all day in line outside what was then the Commonwealth Continental theater. The excitement of seeing all three in one sitting more than made up for the impatience I felt while awaiting entrance to the theater.

I’m here because, while I understand that George wanted to improve on his art, it always irritated me that he pretended that the GOUTs “no longer existed” and could not be made available any more. It always just smelled like bullshit to me. So discovering Harmy’s incredible work way back when and then this place, was such a breath of fresh air and now I’m hooked on so-called fan edits and preservation efforts!

Hi there, just another LONG time fan (since 1977) from Alberta Canada that has “refound” your website! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for this! FOR A LONG TIME, I’ve wanted to find and enjoy the ORIGINAL unmolested cut of the movie without ANY additional “new” scenes. Just plain and simple, the way it was.

Again, thank you so very much for this!

Is the Holiday version out? LOL

I want that!

Hello,
I found this site after many references by youtuber’s about Harmy’s cut. Was surprised to find out about the plethora of fanedits beyond Star Wars and I’m very interested to watch a lot of them now that I have built up a large collections of physical and digital movies. Thanks for all the hard work, can’t wait to jump in.

Hey all. WW here, looking for info and links to all current LOTR edits. I posted on reddit and someone helpful directed me here. I can already see some other projects I’m interested in like the terminator and Bladerunner (reckon I could even get my dad to watch that!)

Please direct me to the appropriate threads. I looked in the other properties and found some LOTR but I’ve done so much digging already on the internet that engaging in even more digging on here seems a bit pointless when I bet someone has literally posted something akin to this same search recently.

Kind Regards - WW

Hi everyone, recently discovered this site. Amazing work! Thank you for all the memories and nostalgia!

Despite having/owning many versions of Star Wars, I never got to see the original trilogy in the theaters, so this is a treat!

Hi everyone!
I only just discovered that there were actual 4k restorations of the original Star Wars Trilogy about a week ago! I saw a youtube video of Harmy explaining how he would like his son to be able to watch the original Star Wars movies in 4k without the additional 3d effects etc… and like a few others Ive seen posting here, I’m in the same boat! I’ve got a 3yr old and cannot wait until he’s a bit older to watch Star Wars for the first time. I’ve even tried to keep his eyes away from a lot of the cheap 3d animated children’s content. He growing up on all the old retro cartoons.

Anyways, like everyone here… I am super excited to see the passion behind those who have restored the original movies. I believe there are Harmy’s versions and also 4k77 Projects aswel. I’ve only been on the site 5 minutes, so I’ll poke around and hopefully get pointed in the right direction!

Amazing job guys!!! Well done!!

Hello everyone, I just came across this project and very excited to learn more because Star Wars has been such an integral part of my life! I still have vivid core memories from viewing each of the OT movies in the theatre which includes how I felt and who was with me. We had the original double LP soundtrack that my brother and I regularly played in those days with Cantina Band and Throne Room being played the most. I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but for the longest time, whenever I heard the Fox Fanfare intro, I immediately would run into the room because I thought one of the Star Wars movies was on the TV (always disappointed when that wasn’t the case).

While I sit here typing these words, I’m looking up at my desk shelf to see the Boba Fett action figure that I received via the mail away promotion when I was a kid. Back then, I immediately shared him with my third grade class ‘show and tell’ day. He’s the only survivor from my childhood collection, but my friends and I had so many great times playing with the various toys as kids that those memories will always live on.

I look forward to learning more and doing what I can to support the team and project.
