Idea: restore the Quantum Leap S2 DVD music...

Quantum Leap was one of my favorite TV shows growing up, as I can imagine most of you guys as well. With the season 2 DVD set, they took out all the good songs of that season and put in elevator music. I wasn’t sure if someone has already done this, but I thought this could be a neat little project for someone to do. I have no technical experience to do it myself, but I was thinking it’d be great for someone to re-edit those eps and put back in the right songs. Those sets aren’t very well done, so little compression would be lost putting it on a single layer dvd disc. If this already exsists, please let me know. If not, I’d love for someone to start working on this. What do you guys think?

This goes for Season Three also.

Reviving this thread since Season Four, both US and UK releases, had music replaced. Was wondering if anyone would like to work on the episodes to get the correct music replaced? All they'd have to do is grab the audio from the DVD release, watch the broadcasted episodes for the appropriate music and replace that? I figure the picture quality on the DVD season set would be optimal for this project.

Ok, so perhaps someone could capture the correct music from tapes, then getting higher quality versions of the songs to be replaced in the episodes and putting them back in? I figure somebody really great with audio know how would be able to achieve this.

So I guess it'd be a preservation of the original music for Season Four? It'd be great to have the original aired music for Season Four.

Here's the needed music:

Perhaps just the AC3 tracks alone would, though?

I think perhaps all the other music featured that Season in both the US Region 1 and UK Region 2 except those particular episodes had their music changed due to music licensing. Wouldn't this qualify as preservation of the original broadcasted audio and not a custom audio track?

Season 1 US retained original music, Seasons 2 and 3 UK retained original music, Season 4 replaced it with generic music for those episodes and Season 5 both US and UK has original music. I just got Season One as a late birthday present from me Momma when we where hanging out yesterday. Seasons Two and Three of course will be purchased from Amazon UK, Four and Five will be purchased via Amazon Marketplace.

As I was saying, someone could grab the original broadcast music, grab the particular episodes and replace said music? This I hope wouldn't fall under the "Regarding fan DVDs with alternative audio tracks" since it'd be a preservation of the originally broadcasted music for these episodes on Season Four? I'm quite the fan of this show.

I believe it does fall under "fan DVDs with alternative audio tracks", even though the alternative audio track is itself a preservation...kind-of like attaching the mono mix to the GOUT

Yeah and/or replacing the French dub track on the Bueller... Bueller... Edition DVD of Ferris Bueller's Day Off and replacing it with the prior versions Audio Commentary with John Hughes.

But this is different. I could just download the episodes in question, the original broadcast with music intact and PM others who're interested. Of course there are Leap fans on here who'd be likely to want the original as broadcasted episodes. Myself? I'd put the particular disc/side in question on my computer which contained the altered episodes, extract the audio and replace it with the broadcast audio with intended music intact.

YEAH RIGHT! I wouldn't even know how to do this.:P

I may as well sign the petition in regards to Universal about the music licensing/replacement regarding Season Four. It's a good thing I'm multi-region capable! I also looked on Amazon UK and both Seasons (Series on the site) 2 & 3 ordered together are only, converted with xe.com, $45. Quite a bargain too.

Eh, I think I'll just download the episodes in question with the music intact.

I ordered Seasons Two and Three from Amazon UK on the 15th, shipped on the 16th and am currently expecting them. The ION channel is currently showing episodes from the Fourth Season and I'm DVR'ing them. Anyway I can grab the audio?
