You can totally hear the contempt Leia has for Palps in this alternate of “He’s too dangerous”: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1chKfssHAf45vADOpk5r1El_Hpw0u5Toz/view?usp=sharing
I’d just be worried about it being a tad too long so here is my preferred alt: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LcK84tdPmdSiWQ9_JczZpIVDZVHZf5z0/view?usp=sharing

Here are a couple alternative weapon lines that aren’t as “crispy”: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JHhbB3EWwMgYfqZHMmdG2lEnFyuW851K/view?usp=sharing
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1H6RKXmxZZ4dQX0EHUyHTs2MKvuKXQlTK/view?usp=sharing

EDIT: At this point I believe I prefer what I originally submitted a few months ago. At least I can say I tried again though 🤷

Those are really nice. Thank you.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I can’t wait to watch this new version V3! I’m a little bit scared about AI and how could it be used, but if it can fix a really really problematic movie as The Rise of Skywalker, I’m totally agreed to use it! Amazing job, guys!

Really? Not what I expected to hear. Maybe I am just going crazy and gaslighting myself.

I get that. I think these AI lines are highly subjective because we know that’s what they are. Normally one could appraise it as like “this like in its original context was like this and here it doesn’t fit well.”

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I bet if they had this tech during the development of TROS they would have used it. Ethically speaking, I’d say using this is justified if it helps a project achieve its artistic vision, particularly if it serves as a way to honor an actor that passed away.

I can’t remember: were you no longer interested in Leia saying “Come home!” to Ben when she reaches out? It would be a difficult line to sell but I still think it would be doable.

Yes, I created a line for that. I’ll go digging for it momentarily.

Did you also want to put in the new Kylo lines for their first Skype call on Pasaana? I believe it went: “My mother doesn’t see the darkness in you. Your friends don’t either. But I do.” This would be replacing the previously-deleted “I’m going to find you and I’m going to turn you to the dark side.”

I still think it would be worth looking into crafting a “Ghost Ben” line for when Rey is leaving Exegol to both tie more into the novelization and to not make the last line Adam Driver says in these movies be “Ow.”

If you would like to workshop a line like that I’d be open to considering it, but it’d really depend on how it sounds and feels. Not a bad idea at all, and I don’t enjoy saying no when something you work on doesn’t quite seem to fit perfectly, to no fault of yours.

Also… do you think the Luke AI voice could be made to say to Rey, “Final lesson”? I think that would let us pay off the “three lessons” from TLJ without a clunky number that could feel jarring. And it means that from here on out it is Rey being sent off to fulfill her destiny with all that she needs.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Where would that go? Over the shot of Rey looking down at his empty clothes? Also, what would he even say?

The only way for me to get a decent Adam Driver voice would be to buy his audio book, so it would have to be a really important line for me to even consider it.

EDIT: Hal, I can see to those things.

I agree with JJB here about a line for Ben. Silence from him isn’t conspicuous to me, and having him appear as a spirit at the end is all that’s needed. (But without his appearance, it really felt missing; like, did he not make the cut? Is he in Jedi Hell?)

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

In the novelization, he talks to her while she’s in the cockpit flying out of the rubble in Exegol and says “I will always be with you”.

Again, it’s not super necessary and I don’t want you to go through the trouble if you don’t think it’ll work or is too much of a hassle. But it would be nice to have the other major character in this trilogy have a more poignant final line. But that’s just me.

Alright, these are so good that if you don’t put them in I’m definitely doing it with my copy! lol
Here is my preferred “lesson” line: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CRPv8w4DmbtYGsLI-01n7IUZeSe13qi2/view?usp=sharing
Here is a completely solid alternative: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hRCuJY7bolOwQ2APFODZ3eYgvFglQcK7/view?usp=sharing
I recommend placing the line very shortly before he says “Rey,” for the best effect.

I had to make a video demonstration for our Leia options because it works so shockingly well: https://youtu.be/Ut25aAEiBiM

My favorite is a toss up between the first and third in that video (not a fan of the whispering one). Keep in mind we could apply a small reverb effect to it, too.

Out of the Luke lines, I like that second one and out of the Leia lines, I like the first one.

I like those Luke lines! Could the AI be directed to deliver the line slower? Not that it would necessarily, but as though it could lead directly into, “Final lesson… some things are stronger than blood.”

And I think those Leia lines work well, further linking her efforts with Han, since that is what he told Ben when they spoke in TFA.

😃

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

After listening more than a dozen times, I agree with Sasquatch that the first Leia line was by far the best: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b6RBWXMa_zlCg24D4x0NFncDPZ4QbTpO/view?usp=sharing

As for Luke, the biggest struggle was getting him to speak with a very gravelly voice (the results usually sound like a younger Mark). I can spin my last 5000 tokens and see if it’s both slow and gravelly, but until then those are the only two I’ve got.

Sounds like him, not an inspired delivery and the test will be how it sounds baked in. It’s on my list of things to do next time I’m in there. Thanks so much.

Ooh I just remembered another thing (not AI related) that you didn’t have on your changelog. Weren’t you planning on re-grading Jakku to look more like Starlight?

Author
Time

That was already done in V2. It’s sort of a midpoint between the original and Starlight, so that it fits in reasonably well with whichever version of TFA one saw.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Author

Ah okay. I’ll be honest, I never actually watched v2, just v1. But I’m definitely doing a trilogy watch once v3 is out.

Same! I wish I could convince my friends to join me though. Unfortunately they each fall into polar opposite camps of either “I only want to watch the real versions, warts and all” or “I disliked them enough that I don’t want to watch them again, even edited,” and those feelings extend to the Prequels too.

No appreciation for the impact a cut can make. Heck, TFA was a generally well-received movie, and yet the central change to Restructured was so effective it’s completely replaced the theatrical for me.

Slight update. I just don’t feel that Luke’s “final lesson” line feels right when put into context, only because it doesn’t match his tone and cadence in the scene. I love the line itself, but it just doesn’t seem like it’ll work seamlessly.

Also, and I think I am retracing my steps on this one, Poe’s line “Someone’s coming” doesn’t work well only because the center channel has the sounds of the approaching horses along with his line “heads up.” When I kill his original line it drops out these sounds.

I can’t believe I forgot to try Leia’s line “come home” so that remains on my list to look at.

BUT, I did start syncing the English subtitles, taking notes about each adjustment so that I can manually apply all of it to each of the seven subtitle tracks. There’s… gonna be several nights of this, and a while yet before V3 actually gets released. Tedious work.

The subtitles are HIGHLY appreciated though.
