What… is different about that clip?

And I’m open to doing a V3 if there’s enough that can be done for one. The biggest thing I remember wishing was better was an explanation for the Star Destroyer fleet explicitly being stashed away (and I guess modified) old imperial leftovers Palpatine had as a contingency.

Or even something to suggest the navigation tower allowed them to be piloted automatically, or that he needed First Order personnel to occupy the fleet and use them. Anything to remove the silly plot aspect that his followers we see a roomful of on a hidden, barren world smuggled pocketfuls of random crap over thirty years to build scale replicas to the T of old school Destroyers on a scale the galaxy had never seen.

I had a lazy Saturday afternoon today, so I watched TFA Restructured, Poppasketti’s edit of TLJ, and I finally got around to watching Ascendant for the first time. I only saw the original once back during pandemic lockdown days in 2020.

Nice job to all the people involved! I gotta say, going from the “find me” line at the end of TLJ to the creepy line added to the first Wayfinder scene ended up being a fantastic lead in, even if it was unintentional. It got me pretty pumped for the movie.

The movie was okay, I watched the Rey Nobody version. Definitely better than the theatrical. Still wish all the characters weren’t total dicks to Threepio the whole way through though lol.

Anyway, I just wanted to give kudos to the work that went into this.

Funny you should mention this, because my six-year-old daughter just asked to watch the sequel trilogy (for the first time), and we just watched Starlight/Rekindled/Ascendant (Rey Palpatine version though). On this rewatch, knowing what to expect, I massively enjoyed Rise of Skywalker. Not just found acceptable, as in my previous rewatches - enjoyed. Without all the weaker shots, and knowing to accept Palpatine and some of the other suprises, and with the addition of the polish and new content, a lot of what was great about the original movie (and there is a lot!) really shone through. It helps to be free of four years of anticipation building, and come into this knowing what you’re getting, but I genuinely feel like the sequel trilogy works now, and that each episode in it is great.

Well, I can make Adam Driver say anything we want, really. I was just envisioning placing a clip like that when Rey and Ben connect in the dyad before the Palpy fight. Maybe add an echo effect over the voice so that it’s clear they’re communicating telepathically.

Yeah it was a pretty rough attempt at Sith eyes I put together quickly to see what I could do, kept it subtle to hide the roughness. I always thought it’d be a neat change, and I’m sure fans of Starlight would appreciate it. I’d be willing to give it a real try if there’s a chance of a V3, I’m just wondering what other changes might be wanted and feasible for an update.

Another thing I’d be willing to try and fix is Leia’s saber on Exegol, which to me has always seemed too pink (from the grey Exegol LUT I’m assuming). I shared Ascendant with some friends a while back and one of them asked if Leia’s saber was supposed to be pink, so I know I’m not alone on that one.

I’d also might give the Kijimi graffiti a shot if anyone wants to ressurrect that old idea.

One would consider Starlight/Rekindled/Ascendant to be the ideal viewing order of ST edits. I should watch them in order myself to get the same experience.

Depends. Do you have an audio library of Oscar Isaac with no background noise?

Hmm… it’s a very quick line reading. Awesome that it can even be done at all. How’d it sound to just have “You were right”? I don’t suppose there’s any other way to prompt it to deliver it differently. I’d be happy to mix it in and just see how it fares against what poppasketti did.

I think the first one sounds better personally, and more like Adam Driver. The second one is so similar to what’s already there that I don’t even know if it would be worth making the change.

From what I’m imagining, this could be used for a lot more lines. Such as “we’ve become a dyad in the Force”. Or maybe Kylo can say something after “We’ll kill him. Together…” And also for Rey Nobody it could be very helpful.

I’m assuming this is elevenAI, in which case yeah its insane what the program can do. The possibilities for fanedits have gone way, way up if its used to even half its potential IMO.

It’s cool how the program literally lets you fine tune the emotions and such.

Maybe we could also clean up Luke’s line of:
“Leia told me that she had sensed the end of her Jedi Path”

This is the way.

I’ve had trouble locating a clear audio sampling of Mark Hamill. For obvious reasons, he didn’t voice his character in Lego TFA.

So, Hal’s intention in removing “they sold you to protect you” was to imply that Rey’s parents instead paid for her to be hidden. Here’s a suitable replacement for that line:

https://youtu.be/QPWSB-_sSo4 (EDIT: New clip with improved wording)

Keep in mind that for this to be executed properly, we’d have to reinstate Rey saying “Stop talking!” after he says the final part of his new line. So the flow of the lines isn’t perfect because we’re actually missing a beat.

Bricks, I like that! I think one of our resident audio engineers could massage that to be a bit closer to fit in, but it’s… authentic… in that weird sort of way.

As far as Poe, ideally during a cutaway shot or two he could comment about the fleet. Here’s a rough idea.

“He’s been planning his revenge. An enormous stockpile of Imperial Star Destroyers, his contingency plan. He calls it the Final Order. Together, this fleet has unstoppable power. The Emperor and his [followers] have been hiding in the Unknown Regions. On a world called Exegol.”
