End of Anakin vs Obi Wan (ROTS), Re-edited

I’ve seen the end of the fight between Anakin vs Obi-Wan on Mustafar handled different ways in fanedits but my favorite solution of them all has been the way L8wtr handled it in his edit “Dawn of the Empire”.

He eliminates all the “high ground” and “you underestimate my powers” dialogue so that it’s a quick cut with Anakin immediately jumping after Obi Wan does.

Conceptually I LOVE this idea but have always found L8wtr’s execution here lacking. So I tried editing this scene myself with just a tad bit more of time between Obi wan and Anakin’s jump. I showed it to a friend unfamiliar with fanedits and he loved the change. I feel like this achieves what L8wtr was going for in this scene with a little more smoothness.

I don’t mind the original unaltered scene at all. But if I have to choose between the two fanedited versions, then I choose your version.

Interesting, thank you for the feedback. Oddly enough that is precisely my issue with L8wtr’s version. We cut immeditaely from a shot of Anakin swiping beneath Obi wan’s feet as he leaps up directly to the next shot of Anakin jumping up, without any time between showing Obi-wan complete the jump so that Anakin’s stance can change for the shot of him jumping.

P.S. what do you think of L8wtr versus my version of the Anakin v Obi Wan fight ending?

I like the shots of yours better, but I think the music flows better in L8wtr. Just need a little more tweaking maybe.

Darthrush, I don’t know if you’ve seen Hal 9000’s prequel edits yet, but he pretty much made the exact same change you did. The only real difference is that he reinserted the reaction shot of Obi-Wan looking up as Anakin jumps, which helps with some of the music issues that have been mentioned.

Still, it’s nice to have you back! It’s always great to see retired members of this site return.
