UPDATED ON MAY 22
The idea for these fanedits is to recut each season of Stranger Things into full length films like a horror franchise from the '80s. My goal is to create a set of cohesive films to be watched as a recap of each season or as a first-time viewing experience without having to watch each entire season.
Many scenes and subplots were removed and some major changes occurred in order to create an easy to follow and comprehensive story.STRANGER THINGS

“Stranger Things 4: Part 1” is finally out!
“Stranger Things 4: The Monster and the Superhero” and “Stranger Things 4: Part 2” will soon follow.
Overall, I have to say that I am pretty satisfied about how these three edits came to be.
There are for sure some small changes regarding audio mixing and transitions I would like to make at some point, but I think I need a break for now.
As always I hope you enjoy them and feel free to share any notes/issues you may find and ideas/suggestions that would help these fanedits grow and improve.
Thank you all for your support and patience.
Can I get a link for these new edits please?

Do you have the original movies on google drive? If so just reload the folder. If you don’t have them pm me.
I watched the first 3 edits just in time for you to release your season 4 edits, so that’s good.
I noticed that season 1 in terms of pacing doesn’t seem to work as well as the next two when you cut it down. I have to figure the writing that season was more episodic feeling than the next two which do feel movie-like.
I noticed in the season 2 edit the scene of Barbara’s funeral, the framerate seems to be stuttery.
When you were working out how you’d cut these down, did you wind up moving much or anything around from what they were in vanilla? Or was it just straight forwardly trimming things?

This is true. Season 1 definitely had a different structure compared to later seasons and that may have had an impact on the film’s pacing, although I had never really noticed it before.

I will check on that and see if I can fix it.

Mainly I was trimming each episode down before putting them all together. And I think that -mainly- this approach has worked. There are however a couple occasions (especially in my s4 edits) where I rearranged and restructured several scenes in favor of pacing and storytelling.
There are other faneditors, Anjohan for example (who I admire greatly) with his GoT tv-to-film edits, who deviate significantly from each episode’s and each seasons’ pacing and narrative to create basically a whole new story. And I think that his approach works perfectly for his occasion. But regarding Stranger Things I don’t know how a similar approach could work, because of its movie-like writing as you have mentioned.
Why did you not combine the monster and the superhero with the rest of stranger things. Its kind of annoying because you still consider it important.

I do consider it important but only as what it is.
I don’t think that combining it with Part 1 would have helped the pacing of the film at all. Not to mention that the final runtime would have been close to 5 hours.
What exactly did you find annoying about it being a separate film?
But regarding Stranger Things I don’t know how a similar approach could work
I was just thinking about how since a good chunk of each season has distinctly separate plot lines following different groups of people. Scenes from each could be broken up or consolidated quite a bit without breaking continuity. Though transitions would be a bit of a headache.

That’s an interesting thought that could bring something special.
Maybe I coulg give it try sometime in the future.
Im seeing a similar frame rate issue as in the Barb funeral in the season 4 part 1 edit. Not seen the issue that I’ve noticed in part 2

I spotted and fixed the frame rate issue in Bard’s funeral and the updated version will be uploaded soon.
Could you tell me where exactly did you spot the same issue in Stranger Things 4: Part 1?
I redownloaded the ST4 part 1 file and am playing it now. Even in the first drone shot of the Hawkins Labs building, the motion is quite jaggy. I haven’t watched it all the way through so I don’t know if or when it stops.
Edit: If you step frame by frame you can see every 4th frame is duplicated.
Edit 2: I looked at some various ST files with MediaInfo and noticed that the your edit of 4 part 1 is in 30 fps but everything else is in 23.976 fps which might be the issue.
Frame rate issue has been fixed and the video file has been replaced.
Totally tubular, dude.
don’t know how to PM

Hello, everybody!
Within the following days I will upload an updated version of ST4: The Monster and the Superhero.
It is basically the same film with some minor audio adjustments and a trimmed sequence of the boys at Suzie’s house, as suggested by user @TTR.

This version will replace the current one.
