It appears that Anakin’s force ghost in the upcoming novel, “Shadow of the Sith” will be the Hayden Christensen version.

“Standing between himself and the wraiths was another figure—a man in flowing pale robes, his back to Luke, his head hidden under a voluminous hood… When the lightning flashed, Luke could see the nine solid wraiths through the form of the man who stood between them and their quarry… The blue figure lifted his hood back to reveal the strong, sharp face of a young man, his gaze intense beneath a furrowed brow that was bisected by straight, vertical scar. His thick hair was shoulder-length and had a slight wave to it. Anakin Skywalker reached out his hand.”

Hey @Bridger12, I have a version you will love. It came out in 2011. Watch that instead!

ROTJ:R will still have him be Sebastian Shaw, huh?

This is Adywan’s canon not yours. The majority of your posts are agressive of changes that Ady plans to make and has clearly explained in the past several times. This edit may not be for you.

Edit: Nice edit to your post above by the way!

Are you aware of this one minor error in ROTJ, where the shadow of a prop lightsaber can be seen in a reflection? It’s when Vader is walking down the stairs of the throne room.

I don’t understand what the point was of Lucas adding that Dugg walking down the stairs in Jabba’s Palace. It was only for two seconds. Maybe it was to add something to an otherwise empty space?

The rest of the palace is asleep. It’s completely and utterly pointless.

Besides Yub Nub, I believe most of the kid-friendly material should be removed or altered in some way.

While ESB:R and ANH:R SD & HD are mostly effects changes, this one should also be more of a fan edit.

God forbid Star Wars appeal to children.

I thought that Star Wars can be for everyone, no matter what age or gender you are. Are you saying it can’t be?

I believe he’s just commenting on the fact these movies, especially the OT, were geared towards entertaining & engaging children with straightforward and uncomplicated plot & thematic elements. They were built for kids specifically, but done with enough care & sophistication that adults can enjoy them too. Which isn’t necessarily the same thing as they’re built for everyone.

So the first poster saying or implying that these films are brought closer to their original intent or appeal by automatically reducing or jettisoning kid-friendly elements is setting themselves up for a sarcastic response.

“That’s not how the Force works!”

Isnt he already doing that though?
Remove droid torture in Jabba’s Palace
Remove “Jedi Rocks” and the additions of the Special Edition in that scene
Remove the slapstick Ewok moments during the battle
Add more rebel troop action to Endor ground battle
Larger ground and space battle
Remove Chewie’s Tarzan yell
New Boba Fett death
Remove many of C-3P0’s “Ric Olie/ captain obvious” lines
etc etc

This is true but I beleive this is becuase, unlike the first two which had simple plots and themes that kids could follow, ROTJ had more “kid moments”. Which could be fine however, there is A LOT of them. So many they tend to happen before and after major emotional/plot heavy moments. This juxtapose tends to pull everyone out of the story including kids (which I can atest to, having been one not to long ago, I grew up with the prequals).

They seemed intent that kids would find the plot boring or that perants/censors would not like their kids seeing “dark” moments, so put a something jokie in there to soften the blow. But ROTJ was the movie remembered least of growing up (except perhaps AotC) with RotS and ANH coming in first. RotJ just never stuck and I tended to zone out.

To be clear I’m not arguing the movie should be “dark” or more serious but just that I think Adywan is seeking to remove most out of place humorous moments that don’t fit the tone of the scene they are in/before/after.

TLDR: Even though SW movies was designed so that kid could watch them (“for kids”) RotJ might have gone to far by following the trend of ‘Kids are too stupid to follow plot so, “fun moments” are needed everywhere!’

Also George Famously discovered the delights of toy sales…

Yeah, pretty much. I don’t mean to be snarky, and I understand that elements that pander to children without serving the story could easily be jettisoned (although I’d argue ROTJ doesn’t have a ton of those, compared to say TPM) but I’m sick of the idea that Star Wars movies need to be “serious movies for adults”. These were always movies meant to appeal to kids and families first and foremost.

Can someone one day with adywan’s permission of course take the revisited hd trilogy and use davinci resolve and add hdr to it? If not I understand it’s just that program has impressed me a lot.
