The new 4K picture scan has been already used on Netflix for Part II. Though it’s still heavily filtered (by Netflix itself), it shows much more details and has better colors than the old master.

Thanks for sharing. Those Amazon JP shots do look rather grainy though which is nice. Aren’t they meant to be the same master as the Blu Ray?

Universal has put a sneek peak of the 4K master. What do you think of it?

(Before comment please think of youtube’s video compression)

I think you should not judge the video on YouTube

People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians, and if the laws of the United States continue to condone this behavior, history will surely classify us as a barbaric society.

The new 4K Blu-ray is mentioned by SpareChange to have some DNR, causing faces to look somewhat smooth, but he also mentions a fine layer of grain, which can possibly mark as an improvement over the previous Blu. Also, he didn’t mention a thing about edge enhancement.

I don’t agree to this. The new master is worse than the older one. Less details due to too high contrasts. See lights/shadows in picture 2. Many light details are missing.
Colors are slightly more saturated, but to me seem also worse in sense of being less original.

EDIT:
Oops, it seems I stuck on page 40. My comment refers to this post:

Sorry.

I haven’t read all 41 pages of this thread, but I thought I’d mention that I have all the edited-for-TV audio for all 3 films. I pulled it from my VHS recordings of the movies as they aired on network television back in the '80s and '90s. I also have DVR’d the movies on TV recently, which use some of the same edits, but not completely the same. If anyone wants this, please feel free to reach out.

DCP Back to the Future It looks fantastic, the best version. Thank you very much .

I’d love to get a link in a PM, if anyone is able to do so. Thanks in advance!

Wouldn’t the DCP now be out of date, as the new 4K Versions are now the new superior versions of the trilogy?

I have the 4K discs, but unless I was misreading, the DCP is 4:3. Am I correct, or did I misunderstand?

Not sure where you read that, but I have the DCP and it isn’t 4:3.

I’m super late to this party but would love more information (and a link if possible!) about the dcp as well as the laserdisc audio. Thanks!

The only change remains, which is “The easy way” in Back to the Future II starting from 2010 Blu-ray, in which it cuts straight to the next sequence quickly after the blackout in 1985A unlike before that, where there is around 5 seconds black screen before the music continues after the line. That was probably because during the film showings, the projectionist would have to change reels by the time they reached that scene, and they commonly changed the reels before Marty could answer Biff’s goons “The easy way.”

Do the uhds of back to the future 1 and 2 have edge enhancement done to them? Also has anyone tried add back grain through the fake grain programs? because I’ve seen it done with other films and it looks pretty good.

Could anyone PM me a link to the DCP of BTTF1? I’ve looked in the usual places and it seems it’s only on myspleen now.

Thanks in advance.
