Bitrate?

Hi guys- I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this question: Is there any kind downloadable program out there in which you can analyze vob, m2v, or just mpg and find out the bitrate at any given point in the movie? Other useful things would be lowest bitrate in segment or scene (of your choosing), highest bitrate in selection, and average bitrate. Then, I could use this as a reference when re-encoding for dual-layer in TMPGEnc, to provide the highest quality possible for each individual scene or portions of scenes. You see, I'm doing WAY too many things to edit the mpg directly; I have to make the edits using mpg, output to uncompressed avi (because any other output loses quality in this program), and then encode using TMPGEnc. So I have to reencode, but I want the quality to be on par with the official dual-layer release.

Thanks for your help!

I don't know what program you plan to author your DVD with, but if it's DVD-lab, it has a tool like that built in. When you import a video clip into the files in your project, you can analyze the bitrate. I'm sure there's a program that can probably do it easier, though.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.
